After waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, finally got it! June 4, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very nice tool, although it was delayed again and again, but finally got it. Very sharp blade and tool assortment. Not "universal" like some other leathermans...you won't survive in the woods for a month with it, but around the house or short camping trip or hike in the woods, it does the job. I don't see the point of the carbon fiber considering the non-carbon fiber model weighs the same.
light weight, but very funtional overall. June 3, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I found it just a bit too light, so some other multi-tools will handle heavier duty jobs for the pliers a bit better. but this has a nice large functional blade that I can use for all sorts of purposes. I hated having to carry a mutli-tool and knife. the blade and screwdriver were all I ever used on my other multi-tools anyway. I have to agree with another comment, the carbon fiber part is pretty stupid. If I stick a piece of carbon fiber on my shifter, does that make my car made out of carbon fiber?
Perfect Combination June 3, 2008 Well I'm going to throw my two cents in on this item. Like most of you, I went through the release-mayhem and gave up on the preorder to wait and buy it in the store. I recently got mine and after carrying it around for a couple of weeks am very pleased. The weight is great and I think Leatherman struck a great balance on size and functionality. I used to find myself carrying both a single blade and a Juice every day, now I can just carry the Skeletool without sacrificing many tools or quick access to a quality blade. Only two concerns that I can forsee. One, the blade does not have the safety feature that the blades on the Wave do which prevents them from opening when the tool is open to the pliers. So if you're using the pliers on the Skeletool, make sure your fingers are out of the way and that you don't accidentally open the blade. The other thing is that with the bit driver the place you push to release the bit to change it is on the outside of the plier grips, which means that if you are sqeezing them hard and at the right angle, you could inadvertently release the bit (and lose it). Those are my two very picky and so far unsubstantiated criticisms. But the tool gets 5 stars. My other Leathermans haven't seen the light of day since I got this one, and it will continue to be my everyday tool.
Nice for the basics June 1, 2008 Mine's a little stiff to open the blade but you can't beat the small size, light weight, and basic assortment of tools.
Lightweight and Useful Multi Tool - EZ to carry and keep with you June 1, 2008 I read about the Skeletool CX months ago and finally got my hands on one thanks to Amazon. It is lightweight, but does lack some features regularly found on other multi tools. Because its lightweight, I carry the CX around more often than my bulkier Gerber multi tool, and therefore actually use the CX because it's always with me. The CX is a sharp-looking, good quality, multi-tool and has just the basic commonly-used tools, which is fine by me (and should be for most people). Looks like my Gerber is going on eBay... After nearly two months with the Skeletool CX, I would like to add a few additional comments. The CX comes with a nice snap hook so I hooked it to the key ring on my backpack. I take my backpack to and from work, so I always have the CX tool available. Other times, I just click it on to my belt loop and carry it that way. I can't tell you how many numerous times I've actually got to use this tool, because it's so lightweight and compact, it's always with me and available for duty. From my own experience, this is one gadget that I actually carry with me and use regularly and I am happy to further endorse the Skeletool CX after having actually owned it for 2 months.
