5 Stars for Me Too April 25, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
GE AccessPoint Slimline KeySafe 2-Key Case, White #001413
Great product. - Heavy Duty. - Everything well made. - Combo easy to set and flexible (nothing needed to read). - Easy to install (minutes). Mount on to something via 4 screws. If masonary or drywall, you will need to purchase drill bit and sleeves for screws. This product weighs a pound or two. Its heavy duty.
My application: Condo front door. If I forget my key while taking out the trash, lockout service costs $20 - $75 and wait time. This key container was a no-brainer for me. And I did not want the padlock kind. Its a permanent install for me. My neighbors already asking about it.
Solid. Highly recommend February 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had bought one of these from Home Depot for almost double the money. Was pleased to get this one so inexpensively. Very good/durable quality, and easy to configure code.
Just the rocks ... February 12, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have two grey ones and this white one. They are very heavy duty. I have one at the front, back and garage door so I no longer worry about carrying keys with me. I was really surprised at how well made and useful these are. Much, much better than a plastic rock. He he!
Secure storage for one or two keys January 1, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We've been using this key safe for a few months now and are quite pleased with the performance. We mounted it on the inside of our French doors to secure the inside key. We did not want anyone to break the window and get the key from the inside or, if they had already broken into our house, get a house key for a future return date.
Pros: - very easy installation, just a few minutes - securely mounts to our door - sturdy construction of the box - easy to (intentionally) unlock
Cons: - flimsy buttons for the combination - fiddly combination set mechanism - must use combination to return key to storage position - color is pretty utilitarian - small internal storage for the size of the box
I don't find a problem, as an earlier reviewer did, of having the numbers without sequence, e.g. 1234 is same as 2431. That feature would add another layer of security, but correctly picking 4 out of 10 numbers is still a challenge. It would behoove you to make the number more challenging than 1234.
I gave it 4 stars because of the perception of a light weight keypad. I have some concerns about long term usage. Other than that, it is a sturdy little safe to store a few keys.
Up a creek without a key! December 31, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product has saved me many hours of agravation, by having a secure spare key available when I needed it. I use the KeySafe at our cabin which is 55 miles from home. There have been a number of times that I have either arrived without a key, or inadvertantly locked myself out while at the cabin. With just a few key presses I am back to my expected routine. Great Product!
