I have collected a number of lighting effects for my own amateur party use. This is one of my favorites. It is bright, festive, and responds well to the music. Although small, only four colored lamps, you get quite a lot of bang. It does run hot, but that's pretty easy to acommodate.
 Didn't Work June 6, 2008
Bought this item through Musician's Friend. I took it out of the box and plugged it in. Nothing. I then had to take it apart and found that the hot glue used to seal the 120v connections had caused the wire connection to the AC plug to not make contact. This fixed I then found that the first light would light, but the color bank would not sequence. Evidently this unit had never been tested before it was shipped from the factory! I didn't even bother to send it back. It wasn't worth the trouble. Maybe I can use the bulbs. At least they worked. I'll probably never buy another Chauvet product again.

I did not have high expectations of this product, as I wanted something cheap and cheerful for a one-off party. This did the job, so I was satisfied. But I would not recommend this for a jobbing DJ/Party organiser. The build quality was poor (one of the bracket nuts was cross threaded and the threads were stripped off trying to loosen/tighten it) and the 'sound-sensitive' controls worked randomly at best, but largely not at all. I didn't expect much for the money I paid, and I wasn't disappointed.
Great Stage Light! February 9, 2008
This was bought and used to give some dance feel to an average stage and worked GREAT. The lights are brighter than I thought, and the settings allow you to change it to a fast moving "chase" to a slower moving "chase". It also reacts to sound if you so choose. The lights do get hot though so be careful! The packaging it came in was strong and prevented any breakage of bulbs or other issues. Amazon delivered overnight on the day we NEEDED them! Very pleased for the money.

Musician's friend is not my friend. When they first shipped my lights they arrived in pieces and one item was missing. They did replace the broken light's but never replaced the one they did not send. Needed to call and call to have it removed from my bill. I am one unhappy camper and they need to get their act together.
