 Works Great in Tiger April 13, 2006

I've been using Popcorn for quite some time, and I use it often. I find it to be dead easy to use, and rock solid. I remove copy protection with MacTheRipper, then burn with Popcorn. The few coasters I've made were due to bad media. I recently upgraded to Tiger (10.4.6) and the program continues to work flawlessly for me on my laptop. I have not tried any of the other compression programs out there, because I find no need to. I am quite happy with this product and would recommend it to others.

I purchased this product a few months back with much anticipation- I believed that I had gotten myself a quality product that the Mac community held in high esteem. Sadly, this was not the case. My G4 Powerbook's superdrive remains unused. Not once has this product not shown an error when trying to compress or burn a DVD. I have downloaded the patch (1.0.3, released in May '05) and still no DVD burning, it seems that OS-X Tiger and Popcorn don't get along. Check their help forum (http://forums.support.roxio.com/index.php)- I don't seem to be alone with this problem... I really want Roxio to fix this, but until that happens I cannot advise anyone on throwing away their $50 for this product.

This works great, but can run out of resources if you tend to push your computer to it's limit. I tend to do this on a daily basis and as such I have a few bad burns. Not that I'm complaining, just thought you should know.

Since Popcorn arrived 5 days ago, I've copied about 10 dvds (more than half required compression) and am happy to report a perfect record (no bad burns!) so far. For anyone who is planning to purchase this, please be aware that an update is needed - once you install Popcorn, you'll need to visit the Roxio support website (http://www.roxio.com/en/support/popcorn/index.jhtml) and download the patch (version 1.0.3 is the most recent.. but not what comes in the box)! Quality seems good (both picture and sound), but I'm not exactly an audiophile so perhaps some differences may exist. On my decently new ibook, a complete rip/compression/burn (using Mac-the-Ripper and Popcorn) takes between 1-1.5 hours. Much shorter if you don't require compression. Recommended.

This software was obviosly checked and rechecked before it was released because I've used it over and over and have not run into a glitch of any kind yet. And the price is great. Hats off to the programmers of this fine product.
