Experience precise audio reproduction, and clarity with a wider dynamic range when using the higher bit and sample rates that the R-09HR offers. The R-09HR supports up to 24bit/96kHz linear PCM recording, which has over twice the digital audio resolution of a standard audio CD. I.A.R.C. is a newly developed, dedicated analog circuit optimized for recording with the R-09HR's onboard A/D converter. Electrolytic capacitors provide stable, reliable power with an independent power source for the analog circuitry, and another power source for the digital circuit board, thus eliminating DC interference between components in the R-09HR. The I.A.R.C. also contributes to high quality, low noise MP3 recording with the R-09HR.

Simply Amazing!!! October 9, 2008
If you're in the market for a high-end portable field recorder, look no further. The R-09HR is all you'll ever need or want. The recordings it makes are crystal clear. Actually, I've never heard a recording so crisp and lifelike. I use mine to record my band's rehearsals and it is a dream to use. I used to run MiniDisc all rehearsal. I would then have to convert the MD recordings to .wav or MP3, then import them into my computer's music library, then burn to CD for my band mates. Now, all I do is hook the R-09HR up to a USB and drag the already made .wav files into iTunes or whatever. Burning a band rehearsal CD is as easy as it gets. I love this thing and I am impressed with it more and more each day. The size is crazy small. It's like the size of a pack of 100's sized cigarettes. It's microphones are small and unobtrusive, but at the same time, lively and dynamic. I really love this little unit. Every person I show it to is just in awe. Roland has outdone themselves with this addition to the Edirol line. Save yourself the time and effort of trying out other products from other brands. Lots of them are good, but there are none like the Edirol R-09HR.
Fabulous Little Recorder October 5, 2008
I'm so happy with this product. It was a bit pricey but worth every penny. I can record my voice lessons, burn them to CD and take them with me in the car for review and practice. I'm certain I've only scratched the surface of possible applications for this incredible device. Thanks, Roland!!!
Best little bit bucket out there... September 30, 2008
I've just returned from a 10-day study tour in Israel, where the Edirol R-09HR (with a foam wind gag designed for a Shure SM-58 microphone over the mics) performed admirably. I brought back 30+ hours of iPod-ready tour commentary by our guide, Yoni, recorded in MP3 format. The R-09 ran 6-7 hours a day on a set of NiMH Eveready rechargables, and it never missed a beat. It was often in the dust, never in the way, and the Shure wind gag tamed the noise from the top of Masada to the Golan Heights. I was impressed by its predecessor on both live music recording (with the onboard mics and with my RODE NT-4 stereo mic), and with its seamless 24-bit capture of "board mixes." The interface improvements (better battery door design, rubberized finish, and the plastic stand) are all well done. I do audio for a living, and this is a sweet little piece of gear.
Very pleased with Edirol R-09HR September 24, 2008
I am delighted with this product. I use it for recording my hypnosis sessions as well as for creating motivational recordings for my clients. I am not a techie and find it easy to use. Two weeks ago I recorded rain falling in my local forest intermixed with the occasional bird song. I looped the 2 minute recording for a 30 minute playback - believe it or not a great recording for sleeping to.!!
Amazing STudio Recorder September 13, 2008
I purchased the Edirol R09HR to use for classic piano practice recording. I needed an accurate recorder that would reveal every detail and sound quality to enable critical review. This recorder is truly remarkable. It is brutally honest at revealing mistakes and timing for my playing. It is less harsh than the Sony and Olympus products that are currently available probably because of the microphones. True Studio recording would require a studio mic, but most users will not hear the difference. I am using Crucial 4GB SDHC cards to good success.
