Great value. November 19, 2008 I have wanted one of the iAxe guitars for a long time, what can I say I am a computer geek.
I just got one here at the best price anywhere. I opted for the MetAlien package as I like the style better than the other iAXE's.
You could buy a normal starter guitar for about the same price with the same quality, its the USB input that makes it unique. This guitar also features a normal cable interface so you can connect it up to an amp.
There is a USB adapter made by Behringer to do the same thing with a normal guitar.
The software is nice and fairly straightforward, it includes a virtual tuner which a bonus, but I still use my Korg tuner on it.
Yes you have to pick one of three virtual amps and the rest are like $15.00 ea.
The first thing I did was have it restrung with Dean Marley strings and had the action lowered as per forum recommendations. So far I am impressed with what I got, I am already looking at normal guitars with lust, lol. But I have a long way to go before I graduate from my iAxe. Something else I came across where virtual lessons called Iperform 3D, pretty cool and on a high geeknesss level, the word though is that personal instruction cannot be ignored, a computer cannot tell you if you are holding your hand incorrectly (yet!) so get lessons.
Great Guitar September 23, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This will only be useful, if you're totally new to the guitar. The guitar is great, a nice finish and the packaging was superb. It's worth it to purchase the USB model, because you will always be able to purchase an inexpensive amp. Since, I really don't know what an extremely well-made guitar should look like...I'll leave it at that
Now for the difficult part; the Native Instrument virtual amps are slightly confusing. You receive all three for a 30-day trial; however, you can select one permanently with the coupon included in the package. Initially, the instructions indicate you can listen only through headphones (not included), but depending on your OP-SYS you will be able to select your 'interface' and 'output/input devices'. With so experimentation...audio will come through your computer speakers.
As I am working on chords/barre chords and "Wild Thing" by the Troggs. I highly recommend this guitar for the true beginner.
