BEWARE: Half of the cans were dented November 28, 2007 1 out of 5 found this review helpful
Half of the cans were dented. Out of concernt for Botulism I had to throw them out. Since I opened my amazon box after few months I can't even make a return anymore.
FAN-tastic October 8, 2007 I love this product and never wanna buy Chicken of the Sea again. It's like apples an oranges in comparing the two. This comes out in one solid piece and the taste is far superior than store bought stuff. It's very worth buying this online and waiting for the mail to arrive.
Also, it's wild which is better for your kids. And low mercury! Yay!
Best Tuna Ever! October 5, 2007 I've always been leary of eating too much tuna because of the mercury content. This tuna tastes great and has low mercury. It's more expensive than the grocery store stuff but well worth it!
Yeah for Low Mercury Tuna!! August 17, 2007 The best thing of course is the low Mercury. I do not have to say anymore on that but in addition to the health stand point, I think this is a very good quality Tuna! I am real pleased with the flavor and meatiness. It is firm, not water laden and mushy like some other brands. Mild flavor and not real fishy in odor as in other brands I have used. I do recommend this product highly. I know I will be a repeat buyer.
Completely mediocre and horribly disappointing considering price August 12, 2007 3 out of 8 found this review helpful
I have no way to assess the claim that this brand contains less mercury than other brands, so I'll leave that aspect aside. I don't eat tuna of any type (or flesh of any type) often enough to make that a concern of mine. I tried this brand because other reviewers said it tasted good, and I'm horribly disappointed. I wouldn't like it if it were simply bland; I like moist, flavorful Spanish tuna best. But this is a bit worse than bland. The taste somehow manages to be insipid yet leave an unpleasant aftertaste. The other problem is the texture: dry as dust. The only possible use I can think of for it is tuna-and-mayo salad (classic tunafish sandwich). Even then, I would add a lot of celery, relish, and onion for flavor and let it sit for at least a half hour after mixing it. I'd rate this about equal to one of the giant tuna companies' chunk light tuna--better taste, worse texture; below a standard can of solid albacore; quite a bit below Cento in olive oil (the best semi-available tuna in the U.S., in my opinion; I could buy it in any grocery store in Philly, but sadly here in NW Ohio can't buy it or anything else Italian); and infinitely below a top-rate brand such as Ortiz (the best I've tried). If Wild Planet tuna were priced comparably to standard grocery-store tuna, I'd give this an additional star. But at $4+ per can, I feel that it's money down the drain and only 2 stars are merited.
