Very good August 16, 2008 Not perfect, but very good jerky at a very good price. Can't wait to try the "hot and spicy" next.
Better than most other jerkies July 25, 2008 This is better than most beef jerky products in supermarkets. It's quite moist and tasty. My only "beef" is that it's still overly salty for my taste.
Contains MSG, nitrites, and loads of sugar July 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered these based on the enthusiastic reviews, and when they arrived I was disappointed to see that brown sugar is the second ingredient, and this jerky also contains MSG and nitrites.
I'm sensitive to MSG and I'm not a fan of what nitrites do to the human body. MSG is a salt that tricks you into thinking something tastes better than it really does, and some people find it gives them headaches and numbness.
When I ordered, I had skimmed the product decriptions looking for ingredients, but couldn't find the them. Now I see the ingredients are listed lower on the page.
If you're like me and you avoid things like sugar, nitrites, and MSG, be sure to read the ingredients:
Ingredients - Sliced Beef, Brown Sugar, Water, Salt, Papaya Juice, Vinegar, Black Pepper, Garlic Powder, Monosodium Glutamate, Citric Acid, Sodium Nitrite.
Oh -- and by my standards, this jerky tastes ... just OK. A bit too sweet (6gm sugar per oz, to be precise, according to the label).
My favorite jerky I've found so far is "Gus's Really Good Fresh Beef Jerky - Original (No Sugar)" but unfortunately Amazon doesn't sell it.
ContentedCarnivore July 8, 2008 Yes, oh yes... I am a recent addict of jerky. Best so far for price. I'm still on the hunt, tho', and will be as long as I can gnaw.
Excellent Jerkey May 17, 2008 Ordered the jerkey for my 32 y/o son who sometimes craves Jerkey. He gave it 5 stars! It tastes great and is not tough like some brands of jerkey. It was soft (not too soft) and tasted wonderful. Said he's like to have it again, so I'll be reordering. Try IT !
