 A Flavorful Treat July 5, 2008
I was very impressed by the quality of the cuts that went into this jerky. The strips are not the highly processed Slim Jim cuts but obviously slices from real pieces of meat. I have only had the Original flavor but it was very pleasant, it is fairly understated for jerky, just a hint of salt and spices.
Each bite gives you a flavor burst of delicious beef taste. The pieces are tender and perfect bite sized. Mr. Z original flavor is definitely a high end product that is extremely satisfying. I enjoyed it because it was not too tough or dry. I do not like jerky that is so dry that is seems to suck all the moisture out of your mouth as you try to chew it.
The original style has a nice flavor that compliments its texture. It is not overly smoky, but still flavorful. Quite enjoyable. The whole family liked this one.
Only one change is needed; the bag needs a zip top so that you can reseal the bag.

After sucking down the real thing you'll find it very hard to go back to "snapping it to a slim jim." This is Beef Jerky. Real Beef Jerky. It really doesn't get any better than this if your looking for the taste of the real thing. Its fresh and is a fairly healthy snack when eaten in moderation. You can't go wrong stocking up on this for parties or just have around for when your buddies show up and want something to snack on.

I really don't have much to add beyond the title of my review. I found this to be rather tasteless and therefore not very enjoyable. There are much superior products of this type on the market.

Although a few reviewers commented that they found this jerky too salty, my complaint is just the oppositive. I found it had a flat sweetness that was just this side of unpleasant. I'm not fond of teriyaka jerky or other sweet flavorings and prefer a salty, smoky "authentic" jerky taste. This didn't have that flavor. The texture was perfect, however, with a nice bite and chewiness. Not rock hard, not too soft. There is a great meaty mouth feel...but the sweetness and sweet aftertaste prevented me from taking more than a couple of tastes. I served it to friends a few days later and those who liked sweet tasting jerky found it good; those who preferred a saltier snack said it was insipid. So, it's up to you...if you like sweet snacks and don't want a jerky that packs a big wallop of flavor, this could be your choice. But if you really like a rich meaty taste, this isn't it.
