Great Diaper! October 11, 2008 This diaper is wonderful! Our son is currently about 18 lbs and 4 1/2 months old. We have been using this diapers for three months; exclusively for the past two months. I'm sooo pleased!!!
I love that they adjust to fit your child from an infant to a potty trainer. For about $400 we got our entire system. We had spent about $20-25/week on disposables. So by Thanksgiving these diapers will have paid for themselves. Then I should have another two+ years without having to run to the store.
I have both versions 2.0 and 3.0. At night we use the normal cotton babies insert then the newborn insert (included with purchase of the 3.0) during the day. I have never had a poop leak! I can't say that for any brand of disposable. I have had a couple wet leaks but that was due user error. Our son is just now getting to a point that he is outgrowing the newborn insert.
To care for them we use a diaper sprayer and Charlie's Soap (purchased online). I LOVE CHARLIE'S SOAP!!! I haven't had any problems with staining or odor. I haven't had a need to pre-soak or do an extra rinse. I hang dry my diapers and tumble dry on low or hang dry my inserts. Occasionally, a diaper insert will need some sunning to avoid stains. My diapers still look brand new!
BumGenius One Size Diaper is a winner in my book! October 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought these for my little girl on the way, but used them yesterday on my 2 year old when we ran out of clean training pants. I was really pleased with the fit of the diaper and how trim it was on him. I had heard that these tend to be a bit bulky on, but the BumGenius was les bulky than a diaper would have been. It was an added bonus for us that my son didn't think of it as a diaper as well. It doesn't sound like a diaper, so he was okay wearing it instead of his training pants. We don't know about the absorbancy factor as he stayed dry all night, but we are loving the idea of our little one to come and our 2 1/2 year old being able to share these dipes!
Two thumbs up! September 26, 2008 I really wanted to cloth diaper our baby, 'cause I'm all crunchy granola like that. However, I did not want to fuss around with a lot of layers and pins and snaps. I also did not want do deal with leaks and mess. After doing a lot of research, I decided to purchase BumGenius diapers and have been using them exclusively since my son was a month old. These things are AWESOME! Even my friends who would never consider cloth diapering have been amazed and impressed at how easy these are to use. BumGenius are just as easy to put on and take off as disposable diapers. In my opinion, they are much more absorbent. We never have leaks. They are also very gentle on my baby's sensitive skin. We hardly ever need to use diaper cream, unlike my friends who use plastic diapers. It's perfectly easy to change these diapers on the go-- I just tuck dirty diapers into a small wet bag (also purchased on Amazon) and then toss them in the washer when I get home. I really wasn't sure if cloth diapering was going to be realistic given our busy lifestyle, but BumGenius has made me a total convert. This is a wonderful product!
Very Disappointed - They Leak! September 5, 2008 2 out of 5 found this review helpful
We invested just over $200 in a dozen bumGenius 3.0 diapers a couple of weeks ago for my 27 month old son and 11 month old daughter. I loved them at first, but by the end of the very first week, we had the waterproofing completely fail on three of the diapers. While my son was wearing them, and less than an hour after I'd put them on him, he was absolutely soaked as though he had no diaper on at all. The leaking wasn't coming out the sides, but through the fabric cover! I was shocked with the first one, but by the third one, I was mad. Not only did it upset him (he actually had pee dripping from his shorts while we stood in line to pay at a grocery store!), but I had to wash bedding and a soaked carseat the two other times. I did contact Cotton Babies, where I purchased them, and they told me I must have used the wrong detergent. I had followed, very strictly, all washing instructions including using a detergent as recommended on their website. What I apparently didn't do right, was buy the Military version of this product! I wonder how many people have that option available to them? Anyway, I tried yesterday to restore the waterproofing in the way that Cotton Babies recommended, but then drove to 5 different stores (including Whole Foods, Henry's and our local Co-op) and could not find even one of the other recommended detergents. So now what do I do? I have $200 worth of diapers that I cannot use!
At least knock a few bucks off for an older version. August 14, 2008 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
I had the 3.0 in my wishlist, and when g-ma ordered some for baby, this is what she got. I believe they ARE the 3.0s, but are probably backstock from before they started putting in the infant sized insert. Why they don't just say THAT on the description I don't know. If they want to sell them to get rid of the stock without that extra insert, they could knock a few bucks off them. I usually use them for nighttimes with my baby anyway, so I don't mind the bulk of the full sized insert.
the diaper is great, the way amazon is selling them annoys me enough to knock them all the way down to 2 stars. You can get them direct from this seller for the same price with an extra insert.
