A pleasant surprise August 29, 2008 I expected a nutty flavor like everybody else, but found it tasted a lot like a more mellow version of pineapple juice with just a little earthy undertone to it. At about one calorie per ounce less than orange juice, it's not a diet drink but not a belly-buster either. Worth a try!
A Sweet Surprise! August 29, 2008 O.N.E. cashew juice tastes refreshing, sweet, and it's loaded with vitamins (C, B1, B2, B3, beta carotene, calcium, iron, and more.)
Who knew? There are 140 calories per 11 oz. container, and though it appears a little high in sugar (33g), the ingredients list fruit puree and organic sugar cane as the source of sweetness. (How bad can that be? :)
Aside from the great taste, the manufacturers claim that cashew juice may help: --calm an upset stomach --soothe a sore throat --protect the skin from problems like acne and eczema --fortify the immune system
Sounds like a wonder drink, and I have to say, it tasted like one, too.
The Amazing Cashew August 29, 2008 So, the Cashew is a fruit, a nut, a juice, and in addition to all this, the bark and leaves of the Cashew tree contain ingredients that have been succesfully used in native teas, in skin conditioners, shampoos, and even as insecticides, and in industrial applications.
Bless you Cashew tree!!!
I was pleasantly surprised to see that Cashew juice is now commercially available -- I read my 11 oz colorful container of O.N.E. Cashew Juice as I slowly and thoughtfully sipped its contents.
Sweetened just a little, with Organic Sugar Cane Juice, low in Sodium, very high in Vitamin C, and even containing a bit of Fiber, Calcium, Vitamin A and Iron -- O.N.E. Cashew Juice tasted a bit like watered down papaya juice mixed with watered down pineapple juice, and had a bit of an astringent overtone, as well as a slightly bitter aftertaste.
But all in all, O.N.E. Cashew Juice is easy on the palate and goes down refreshingly.
Adding a little ice and Orange Juice to O.N.E. Cashew Juice creates a nice Tropical blend -- if I'd had some Grenadine and /or a little dark Rum, I might have had a very pleasant summer drink in my hands.
O.N.E. Cashew Juice would make a great addition to a punch bowl, alcoholic or not.
Since it is packed in a portable ready-to-go package, it would be a nice idea to include a straw with this aseptic package.
Nutty and Tropical August 29, 2008 This was a new one for me. At first taste, there was little to write home about. Per the packaging, I had left the drink in the refrigerator and it was nice and cold when I opened it. While I'm thinking of it, the packaging is a quality product - like the juice boxes of kids, but no clumsy straw to deal with. Just an easy-to-remove pull-strip covering the mouth of the container.
So I take my first swig ... hmm, not much substance. Drink some more and I notice a mild nuttiness (my son thought it was very nutty-flavored) but mostly the drink reminded me of tropical fruit. Not in-your-face mango or papaya or anything. Just a nice mild tropical taste.
All in all, it was a nice refreshing drink. The two downsides to me were that it didn't seem to have enough flavor to really grab me. Perhaps if you like a more mild drink - I'm kinda fond of strong and fruity. The other downside was the aftertaste - really more of a dry-throat vodka martini dryness.
As with all foods, the individual will have to decide if this is to their liking. Had it not been for the dryness/aftertaste, I probably would have rated this as four stars. Maybe they can do something about that...
Tastes rather good. Needs a straw. August 29, 2008 This "Cashew Juice" tastes rather good, even though nothing all that "cashewy" really stood out to me as this juice was rolling over my taste buds.
What did stand out to me is that this is supposed to be a "grab and go" kind of beverage container, and it's even got a straw on the artwork, so why can't they have a little stray attached to the container, like children's juice boxes, so I can grab some of this stuff without searching the house for a straw or finding something to poke the foil with so I can pour it out. Yes, that's a nit, but this would truly be a unique and convenient beverage if it came with a little straw.
