They Taste good and might be good for you. October 13, 2008 I am by no means a health food junkie, however I do try to be aware of what I eat and getting into my 40's has made me more conscious of that. I'm busy and on the go quite a bit, so having something to snack on that is healthier than a Snicker's bar but tastes good is a must. These bars were a pleasant surprise. I was expecting the nasty gravel + vitamins taste of most healthy bars. The taste of these remind me of the old "Zero" candy bars from when I was a kid, which were a fave! Not too filling but more satisfying than a candy bar, and best of all I didn't get that sugar crash you get with a candy bar. Did my brain improve? I dunno, but my mood did. I recommend these for people who want to eat something more healthy than a candy bar, but don't want to do the full-metal-head-on-health-freak-eat-dirt experience.
Omega 3s in a tasty way October 7, 2008 I rarely felt as health-conscious as I did having Kellog's Live Bright bars in the morning. There is indeed research that shows omega 3 fatty acids such as DHA help with prevention (and possibly even treatment) of mental illnesses such as depression, bipolar, and psychosis. It's not randomized controlled trials, so the quality of evidence isn't the highest, but it would make sense that DHA would help with the brain health. Also, these bars were definitely among the tastiest I've tried - and they aren't too sugary or sweet. Worthy of buying.
Good, but completely addicting October 7, 2008 Good product, but completely addicting. It was hard to make myself stop after just one!
Bad October 1, 2008 The product doesn't taste good. And the health claims don't apply to the bar. This bar will not improve your brain health...and may hurt your overall health. Look at the sat fat on this. Look at the ingredients...the top two ingredients are sugar and partially hydrogenated palm kernel oil....then high fructose corn syrup. And I can't understand most of the remaining chemical ingredients. Yuck.
Health? Bar September 28, 2008 I'm sorry. I know Omega 3 oil is supposed to be a good thing and the best thing you can say about these bars, I suppose is that there is some of that in there. If you were inclinded to eat Mars Bars for breakfast, no doubt, this would be a viable option that would provide you with all the sugar and processed foods that you're looking for as well as just a tad of something that can make you feel like you're living healthy.
For anyone with a modicum of common sense it won't pass the test however. Snickers Bars in a seaweed wrap make just as much sense.
Maybe if someone eats enough of them to concentrate the effect of that intelligence building compound they'll get enough smarts to quit before they die of a stroke.
