Giant Chewy Nerds--The Fulfillment of a Childhood Dream June 26, 2008 Oh, how anyone can find ANYTHING wrong with these delicious little gems is just BEYOND me. Don't you remember being a kid and searching through the Nerds box for the biggest Nerd? It's a BAG of the biggest Nerds! Holy crap! It's a thick, crunchy Nerds crust around a gummy center. That tangy distinctive Nerd flavor with each color, a subtle sweet-tart bite, and the gummy, chewy finish. It's natures most perfect food. I need a whole darn case because one bag a day is not enough. LOVE them!
Dandy candy June 19, 2008 I'm not a fan of regular Nerds--a little too much like colored sugar for my tastes--so I can't speak to how Nerdy the Giant Chewy Nerds are, but I did enjoy them. They're essentially a good quality, juicy chewy jelly bean with a crunchy, warty, Nerds candy exterior. The coating texture (but not the flavor) is like a Boston Baked Bean. The combo chewy-crunchy texture is definitely a winner, but the flavors are pretty much standard fare. If Jelly Belly would steal the concept (same texture, better flavors), they'd be top notch, even for adults. But for rotting the teeth of the single-digit age crowd, they seem just about perfect: sweet, chewy, crunchy, less messy than regular nerds, appealingly colorful and pleasantly ugly.
I love these Giant Chewy Nerds. June 12, 2008 I just found these, and they are my favorite new candy in a long time. The mix of crunchy and chewy textures is wonderful, and they have just a little tartness to them.
They are unusual, but very tasty and fun to crunch and chew. Yum!
Just okay.....a better treat for kids than adults June 8, 2008 I ordered these expecting them to be a fusion of gummi bears and swedish fish. They're not....and not as good as either. The outside is a hard, somewhat crunchy candy shell that is a bit tart/sour....and has a slight powder coating. The inside is a bit soft and chewy, but not as nice as a swedish fish....and not as sweet. The candies have a slight bit of taste, but not much. These will work to satisfy a three year old's craving for candy, but they're not much of a treat.
Candy With A Twist June 6, 2008 When I first opened the bag, I thought these were hard candies and had planned to share with the kids. I think my mistake was sampling while working. I'd only planned to eat a couple or so. When I looked down a few minutes later, there were only a couple left. Since it wasn't enough to share, I went ahead and ate them. Luckily for me, the kids don't read my reviews and will never know. BUT, being that I am a mom and should have shared, I went by the store to purchase some for the kids.
So moral of the product is if you pick up the 1.8 oz. bag, don't plan on sharing. It's too good to each a couple. The chewy center is surrounded by what tastes like Wonka Pixy Stix, another product of theirs I love. The outside is the crunchy part.
If you like jelly beans and I do, you'll love this.
