Question and Review -- Health Benefits March 6, 2010 E. Demauro This is not so much a review as it is a Question. However, I have ordered some and will review it once it arrives. Does this honey contain the health benefits that raw honey is known for? I've read that this honey is filtered a number of times [...]. WHFoods claims that "raw honey that has not been pasteurized, clarified, or filtered - provided it is of the highest organic quality - is your best choice" [...].
Now that I've tried the honey, here's the actual review:
The honey is amazing--it tastes great. It is, however, crystallized, which I don't find to be a problem since I mix it in with my drinks. I imagine it would work fine as a spread as well.
Cheers!
Less messy, but sweet February 5, 2010 Emrld 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this product to try it out, and I do like it. It's not as messy as regular honey, but seems a bit sweeter. I usually use honey for making certain breads and sweetening tea, but this one is too sweet for making bread by the usual recipe, so I just use it for tea. Still it has a nice flavor and interesting texture. I just can't stick with this one because I have to try all the honeys!
Vegan? not December 4, 2009 Guy Grolimond (Canada) 1 out of 11 found this review helpful
Just to get this straight. Honey may be considered by some to be vegetarian but cannot be Vegan .
wish i could like it September 19, 2009 NAT (NY) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
my shipment arrived with a lot of the plastic bottles dented up. customer service was so wonderful to deal with-a plus. i took a taste from one though and it's so strong of a flavor. i buy raw honey all the time and they're always firm to the touch, but this one is flowing, like regular store bought honey. my kids don't like this type of raw honey at all, the taste is too strong. maybe it's just our taste, but if you're into the normal flavor of honey, this brand is definitely going to throw your tastebuds off. if you're into different flavors, then this is the one for you.
Earth Friendly Yummy Raw Honey September 15, 2009 Eco Mama's Guide To Living Green 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I find this honey to have a mild but distinct flavor. The texture is divine, being thick and just a tiny bit sandy--if that makes sense. It dissolves slowly in your mouth and does not overwhelm beverages like tea. I also find it great for baking and raw food preparation. This would be an ideal honey to have on hand in the winter when cold season strikes. A little of this, some organic lemon and water will soothe a sore throat and cough, I think, better than any cough syrup.
On the Wholesome Sweeteners website, they explain the ecologically and community-healthy way the honey is produced. None of their bees have been afflicted with CCD, incidentally, and the production of this honey provides stable income for Mayan communities that have been bee keeping for centuries. At the same time, this endeavor helps to protect the rain forest by providing consistent income for those resources. Highly recommended.
