Just stevia! March 19, 2010 Joyce M. Dodd (USA) Having used stevia as a sweetener before, I was happy to see it come into the grocery stores under the brand names Truvia and Stevia in the Raw. However, I found that these products are not pure stevia, but have added components that we attempt to keep out of our diet.
So, we are back to buying what we think is the purest stevia on the market - Sweet Leaf - and the prices and service provided by Swanson Health through Amazon is the best way to go!
Do your research before sweetening anything you injest, and you will purchase Sweet Leaf also. The 'plus' is nice if you are older and less active than you were as a youngster, too!!
not what I expected March 7, 2010 Grumpy Bear (Wisconsin) I purchased the Stevia Plus, my mistake. I only wanted Stevia, not inulin. However, I have to say that it was not what I expected. I thought it would taste a bit more like sugar without a bad after taste. It had an after taste that I can't quite describe. I did not care for it in my tea or my coffee.
I may try the Stevia sweetener by itself & see if it was the inulin that ruined the product for me.Sweetleaf Stevia Plus Fiber 100 pkts
Great stevia but packaging could use improvement February 27, 2010 these pretzels r making me thirsty (Maryland) First off let me say that I, myself, do not like the taste of stevia unfortunately, but the person who I order this for loves this brand. Only problem is last couple of times a couple of the packets have been opened causing a mess all over the inside of the box and if there are any other items packed with it, they have the stevia powder on them. I didn't say anything the first time this happened but since it has happened twice in a row, I had to say something. At about ten cents a pack, each pack is definitely wanted and missed when you cant use it. The product itself is great though, but hopefully wherever the opening of the packets is coming from, they will correct this problem soon. Since this is a favorite brand of stevia, I hope next time they will arrive intact.
Excellent, Healthy Sweetening Alternative October 2, 2009 Kerri Elders (Fort Worth, Texas USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is my favorite sweetener (after natural sugar & honey) and I use it daily in my green tea. Some Stevia products have a strong, licorice-like aftertaste, but not SweetLeaf SteviaPlus. Perhaps it's the added fiber or the way it's processed, but I find this the perfect sweetener for hot tea. I don't like stevia for sweetening Iced Tea, but I do love it in my Yogi Green Tea.
Stevia is a natural herbal sweetener (made from the root of the plant, as I understand it) and it has been recently reported that it is unusually high in antioxidants. Although I keep artificial sweeteners around for family members, I refuse to use them (Google them by name & see which ones have been proven to lower your body temperature--i.e. metabolism--which will actually cause you to GAIN weight). Stevia's a great choice for calorie & carb watchers (you'll also find that synthetic/artificial sweeteners still contain carbs, despite their labeling--hard core low carbers can testify to this frustrating fact of life). Stevia's a much better and healthier choice, in my opinion.
Amazon's Subscribe & Save price is a great deal for this hard-to-find sweetener. Just be sure to stir your tea while adding the SteviaPlus or you'll get some clumping from the fiber content. Live well!
Beats all the artificial chemical toxin sweetners September 2, 2009 Mojave Desert California (California) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It may take some folks getting used to when they've been using the chemical sweetners for so long, but the taste is very pleasant, and so you have to stir it longer, at least it doesn't cause cancer or have side affects like the artificial ones do. It's worth the extra 10 seconds of stirring to treat your body with a healthier alternative.
