On the package of the Scotch-Brite Cook Top Cleaner kit, its first claim is "cuts through grease." My cook top did not have the crusty soiled spots that most people are concerned with. When I first used these, my cook top was clean EXCEPT for some grease splatters from my griddle that I use on top of my cook top (specifically from cooking sausage). Cleaning up the grease quickly and easily was my primary concern and why I purchased these. No such luck -- the pads simply smear the grease all around, making a whitish goo, that then has to be cleaned up with another cleaner. To me, these were a total waste of money (and time).

The other reviewers who suggested the handle is the best part of the product are, in my opinion, correct. I affix now other pads and use other cleaners, but the handle helps a lot. Using a razor blade on the crusted spots first is advisable.

This product did not do any better of a job than I can by hand with a dish rag. It did leave an ok shine on the surfaces it did get clean after you wipe it with a paper towel. The problem was, it did not have the ability to get most of the soiled areas really clean. I am simply not impressed by looking at the pad after using it and saying "wow, that looks like a lot of dirt". This is simply more marketing to sell an "easy" solution in our disposable society.

I bought this item because I was frustrated at being unable to get my glass stovetop completely clean using other products. I could see it working almost immediately. After scrubbing the surface with the special pad, I buffed off the residue with a paper towel, as recommended on the package. The resulting glassy surface was worth every penny - it literally sparkled.
It delivered the promised results with minimal effort on my part.

This product cleans OK but not anywhere near as well as Cerama Bryte. I have a GE ceramic cooktop and the Scotch Brite leaves streaky residue all over that can be seen when you turn on the microwave light. This doesn't happen with the other cleaner.
