refreshing alternative to soda May 12, 2008 Looking for a fizzy alternative to soda? This is a great option. Izze drinks are mostly fruit juice with some carbonated water. There's no sugar or artificial sweeteners. They're nice and light, refreshing, sweet enough to satisfy but not too sweet. The blackberry is my favourite. I really enjoy these when I'm looking for something fizzy.
Soda you can feel good about drinking May 12, 2008 It's hard to go wrong with Izze. It's just like soda, except it's made with actual fruit juice. No sugar or artificial sweeteners.
This particular blend is described as pomegranate, but it's a mix of apple, grape, pineapple, lemon, cranberry and pomegranate. Overall it's tart and refreshing, not too sweet. However, the taste of grape and cranberry rather overpowers the pomegranate. Also, with the recent focus on pomegranate as a particularly healthy juice, it would be nice if the pomegranate-to-everything-else ratio was higher, so I'm only going to give it 4 out of 5.
As to the fortification, as with most fortified foods it's more of a selling point than something of real value. You're better off getting your vitamins from a healthy diet, or (if you must) a multivitamin tablet.
However, I'll keep drinking Izze when I feel an urge to drink soda. It may not be the healthiest drink, but it's a lot healthier than the high fructose corn syrup and chemical flavorings sold by the two big name soda makers.
doesn't taste like cough syrup May 12, 2008 You never know with these natural sodas how they are going to taste. My whole family loves these and the small sized can is perfect for an after school snack with some cheddar bunnies.
Nice tang, less acidic May 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
IZZE Grapefruit is great for those who think regular grapefruit juice is too acidic or overpowering. This blend is just perfect -- a bit of sparkling water with the grapefruit juice and not much else. This allows for a refreshing taste, but make sure it is cold. Given that I'm not much of a carbonated soda drinker, this isn't a replacement for a can of Sprite. Rather, it's just another beverage in my arsenal to replace my other daily juices if I don't want to go crazy on the calories.
Tart and not too sweet ... perfect, really. May 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had other Izze flavors before, and have always been impressed. The pear was (and is) a favorite. But, apple, though seemingly more mundane, is every bit as good. If you don't know Izze's, these are very gently sparkling beverages that are light and refreshing. The 8.4 oz cans are just enough to quench a thirst, or give you a sweet fix without too many calories. Can't recommend them enough.
