I love this stuff! March 5, 2010 B. Davenport (Bellingham, WA) This is great, especially with chicken mixed in. It's really quick and easy, and both my fiancee and I love it -- great with rice!
Spicy potatoes and cauliflower make a fast, filling lunch February 9, 2010 Bookaholics Anonymous Pav Bhaji is a Mumbai street food originally developed as fast food for factory workers who couldn't go home nor get "tiffin" lunch boxes delivered. It is a sort of mash of potatoes, cauliflower, peas and other veg and spices that is stir-fried on a large flat griddle and served with bread (the pav, pronounced "pow" like the Portuguese word pao "bread" from which it originated.)
The flavor is spicy, medium spicy (just about as much spice as this hot-o-phobe can take) and the texture is rather pasty and thick. It comes in a retort pouch like MRE's and you can heat it in hot water (campers take note) or you can microwave the contents in a bowl.
It is not vegan (has butter) and is not low cal due to the butter and the potatoes, but it's a filling, spicy lunch if you like curries. Great as emergency food and nice to store in the office to microwave a quick lunch.
Tasty and easy to make February 2, 2010 S. Tien I usually don't like curry but I like the taste of this one. It is easy to make. You can put the curry in a pan to heat it up, then mix in some rice. Made with real ingredients.
Salty, and tasteless September 12, 2009 Cyrus Ira 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this product thinking that it would be good for a rainy (or snowy) day. But actually I would rather have cereal than this. It is salty and has no taste at all. Perhaps since I am of Indian origin, I expected something more suited to my palate as I see that most of the others have given this a good rating (and that is what made me buy it in the first place). I have purchased similar stuff from grocery stores and they taste much better so it has to be this product. Definitely, will not buy in the future and not recommend either. Bon Appetit, folks!
Best curry I've had July 31, 2009 Sam L. This is honestly better than the curry I can get at my local restaurants. It has great flavor, but isn't too spicy. My favorite ways to eat this is by adding it in to scrambled eggs, dipping pita into it, eating it over rice, and braising chicken in it with a bit of milk. Much cheaper to buy it off Amazon, then buy it from the few stores who carry it. While this is an amazing product, the other varieties from Kitchens of India tend to be less flavorful or dry in texture, so try them first from a grocery store if you can before committing to a larger order.
