 Great snack but not for toddlers June 22, 2009

These are a great snack to keep around as an alternative to cookies or candy. They travel well so they work well as an on-the-road snack. They're free of stuff I generally try to keep out my kids like artificial colors (pretty much just fruit and lemon juice to preserve them). Being made from organic fruit is a plus and they only cost a little more than the non-organic brand by this company ("Stretch Island").
Both my kids love them though be warned: the bars are a little too tough for really little kids (I'd say age three and up are okay). The rolled fruit versions are really thin and more toddler friendly (once you unroll them). The expiration date is about a year out so it makes sense to buy them in bulk - it's about half the price of buying singles in the store.

Delicious organic fruit strips that are half a serving of fruit in each strip. Only 45 calories. No preservatives, artificial ingredients, or anything to ruin the natural flavor or healthiness or the fruit. Easy to cary in your purse, briefcase, pocket, or lunch bag. I am never without them. They make great in between meal snacks. The only thing I don't like about the apple flavor is it is tougher to chew than the grape or rasberry. Otherwise, same great snack.

I have no major problem with any stretch island product but I am slightly disappointed they decided to make the organic smooshed fruit line 0.4 ounces instead of 0.5 ounces. Otherwise same great flavor. I will buy these again.

I picked a box of these up because we like fruit leathers a lot in my house. They are a light, easy, and no sugar added snack. That said, I wasn't expecting apple to taste like anything other than concentrate apple juice, maybe a little better.
That was a wrong presumption. These have a very light, sweet flavor. My son loves them especially. The only reason I didn't give these 5 stars is because this brand is one of the more leathery fruit bars. I personally tend to prefer the softer texture of Kettle Valley products.
As far as price, this is one of those foods that you pretty much find in health food stores, and Amazon's price on all fruit bars tends to kill the local competition unless they are specifically trying to sell off the item.
In conclusion, this product:
Has a very light, sweet, fruity apple flavor
Is one of the chewier brands of fruit leathers
Is priced great compared to most local retailers
