Absolutely the best mix August 18, 2008 Pamela's Bread mix is without a doubt the best on the market. I now use it exclusively for all my bread needs. It also makes a fantastic pizza crust. For someone who loves pizza, but can't even walk into a pizza parlor for all the flour in the air, having a true alternative is wonderful.
I can unequivocally give this mix a 5 star rating. I have just bumped my 6 package subscription to once a month.
Best Gluten Free Bread Ever! August 18, 2008 This is by far, the BEST gluten free bread on the market! It can be easily made in a standard breadmaker, and tastes absolutely delicious. I've tried many different brands, and Pamela's is without a doubt, my husband's favorite! Give it a try, and Bon Appetito!
Not happy with this bread, it is too sweet for all but butter and jam August 18, 2008 I have been eating gluten free bread for some time and tried many, but this bread is too strange. It is sweet enough to be a problem if you want to eat it as a sandwich or with anything salted. It becomes quite obvious that it is sweet. I am assuming that this has to do with the sorghum and grape juice, but mostly with the sorghum, I am sure as I have made bread with grape juice in it and it tasted just fine with all salted and sweet condiments on or with it. I am very disappointed and really don;t like this bread much as a general bread. I was going to make some pizza but am worried that it too will have that sweet aftertaste, not exactly great for pizza. So, if you mostly eat bread with jam then its an okay bread but if you want this to be your main bread for anything including breadcrumbs, don't use this.
Great without milk and eggs August 15, 2008 My son is on an elimination diet (no wheat, eggs, dairy, nuts, etc.). We have been frustrated by how many alleged "allergy free" mixes and recipes simply call for the addition of eggs and milk in the directions.
Pamela's chocolate cake mix does have a recipe calling for milk and eggs, but it offers a dairy & egg-free alternative that comes out very good. We skip the "egg replacer" - which we don't like, and add a tiny bit of baking soda & some olive oil to make up the liquid. The result are chocolaty and dense and everyone approves!
For best results, I cook the egg-free version as cupcakes - in cake form, the edges tend go get dry while the inside's still gooey. Cupcakes come out just right.
Super product August 5, 2008 Pamela's Products are great. I would recommend them for anyone who wants a wheat free product.
