2 out of 5 stars The fact that I have to click with my thum, is very un-comfertable. I regret the purchase.   November 17, 2008
I had Logitech's trackman wheel mouse and I loved it. I debated between the two but based of my goog experience with them I ordered this one.
I'm not happy.
The fact that the click is done with the thum is a mistake in my opinion.

2 out of 5 stars Not ergodynamic   November 6, 2008
I'm starting to have pains in my wrist/forearm from using a mouse. Thought this would make wrist and/or forearm feel better. You have to press the enter button with your thumb with enough pressure that by the end of each day, I'm in significant more pain than before. Just switched back to my old trackball...pain gone. Bummer I liked the features but the pain is a dealbreaker.

1 out of 5 stars A Pain in the Wrist and Awkward   October 22, 2008

A physical therapist recommended the Trackman as a replacement for all mice/trackballs in my department -- whether we complained of problems with RSI or not. After one week of use my wrist ached more than it had in 3 years of working in the same job. Out of 6 employees in my department, only one continues to use it and she admits to not liking it very much.

the scroll wheel is so out of place, it doesn't feel comfortable at all to use. The resistance of the primary click is greater than the right click. (this makes no sense.) If you have long fingers like me, you'll have to bend your thumb in to click with the tip of your thumb or else flex your thumb out to use the inside knuckle. no thanks.

i shoved this thing back into its box and went back to my Logitech Marbleman - which is balanced, comfortable and allows you to use it with both your left or right hand.

5 out of 5 stars Good substitute for Microsoft Trackball Explorer   October 17, 2008
1 out of 1 found this review helpful

My favorite trackball to date is the Microsoft Trackball Explorer which is no longer made and costs a ridiculous amount of money to buy a used one - ranging from $100 up to $250. I have purchased many trackballs in the last year and the Logitech Cordless Optical Trackman is the only one I have found acceptable. The position of my hand and fingers does not fatigue my hand or feel awkward. My hand feels like it's in a very natural position on the device.

I prefer a trackball whose ball is not thumb controlled (I prefer using my index and middle fingers) and I prefer to be able to use my thumb for the regular click. This one does just that. I reprogrammed all the buttons to my liking so that I also have a double click.

I also am happy with the number of buttons available and the ease with which I was able to customize them to my liking. The placement of the buttons isn't perfect but it does fine.

I use this trackball with Windows Vista and it works just fine. I haven't had any compatability issues.

If you prefer clicking with your index finger and controlling the ball with your thumb, then this isn't the trackball for you. You would be better off with the Logitech Cordless TrackMan Wheel. I had previosuly purchased that one but did not care for it because of that reason-I am accustomed to and prefer using my fingers for controlling the ball and my thumb for the click and this particular trackball (the Logitech Cordless TrackMan Wheel) is the opposite. The ball is moved by your thumb and the clicking is at the top as with a regular mouse.

As for the cordless feature-it works fine. I've only had to reset the connection once in about 4 months and all that entails is pressing a button so that the device and the receiver communicate with each other.

Also-someone mentioned something about the ball getting dirty. In my experience, all balls do and all you need to do is pop the ball out, wipe it and the sensors and pop it back in. Good as new...

Overall, I am happy with the Logitech Cordless Optical Trackman!

3 out of 5 stars Ok...   October 9, 2008
I think it is an ok trackball. It is not as comfortable as I thought it would be. Buttons seem to be misplaced. If I had smaller hands (I wear a medium glove) it might feel better.
