The filter reduces impurities and harmful substances from tap water and holds approximately 40 liquid ounces. The slim pitcher fits neatly into many refrigerator doors, enabling users to maximize shelf space. Certified by the National Sanitation Foundation International, Brita water filters contain a mesh screen to catch sediment and particles as tap water flows through into the pitcher's basin. Brita pitchers employ an ion exchange resin with activated carbon granules to draw mercury, zinc, copper and cadmium from tap water, trapping these harmful elements inside the filter. Brita filters eradicate up to 98 percent of the lead found in tap water while significantly reducing other impurities and dangerous bacteria including cryptosporidium, giardia, and benzene. Additionally, the odor and flavor of chlorine are removed from drinking water. Brita filters should be replaced every 40 gallons or after two months of use. Replacement filters can be purchased separately. Wash the Slim Pitcher by hand in lukewarm water with a mild detergent. We discontinued our bottled water service at my office, and I was looking for a substitute. Since I have a mini fridge in my office, this was a perfect fit as it fits right in the door. The water tastes great too!

the perfect size for college kids October 29, 2008
Though this pitcher would seem extraordinarily small for anyone putting it in a full-size fridge, it seems just about right for my tiny, standard issue microfridge door. You do have to fill it up constantly, especially if more than one person uses it, but it's worth it not to be drinking the city tap water. One caveat--buying new filters costs practically as much as the pitcher itself. But still cheaper than paying for bottles!
My Brita pitcher October 24, 2008
I have used this water purifying pitcher now for about two months and am glad I got it. Before this I would not even drink tea made from the house water. It takes out the chlorine tastes and lets you taste the flavor of the tea. I used a faucet mounted purifier and while it works faster when you need the water the filters coasted more than the whole Brita system coast. I like the shape of this pitcher because of easy storage in the refrigerator. I would recommend this product too all who need a water purifier.
