Great Product October 9, 2008 I got this so my kids would stop over serving themselves cereal (that they didn't finish) and then not close the bag up tightly enough to keep the unused cereal fresh. It works great! It also came in handy when I needed something to serve goldfish crackers at a birthday party. This way there wasn't little hands in and out, just clean servings! Worked great for that as well. Kids really enjoy how easy it is to use and the novelty of it.
What a mess! May 16, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought this for my wife last Christmas and have regretted it ever since. It's a very clever device for it's intended purpose except it's really messy. We use it for storing Cheerios and Raisin Bran, and I've seen it pinch out a Cheerio that bounces off the bowl bottom and skitters two feet across the counter. The rubber plugs which snap onto the bottom openings to keep food fresh are a pain to replace and often don't get put back on correctly; they eventually fall off. And what's the purpose of the chrome grill underneath which fills with crumbs and is difficult to clean?
On the up side, it is kind of cool looking and would remain so if you didn't use it. Otherwise I would suggest getting almost any other kind of container for storing cereal. That's what drew me back here to Amazon. I'm looking for something else.
Works, but less than ideal May 4, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This product works, but it is not by any means ideal. The two issues are that (a) the turn flaps that dispense the cereal tend to break up large or fragile cereals (e.g. Raisin Bran will become, on whole, more smaller flakes) and (b) it tends to spatter cereal everywhere BUT the bowl.
So... it's not a BAD product, but I'd spend a few extra dollars and get one that has a cork-screw for dispensing the cereal instead of littler rubber flaps. I think you'll like the results better.
Happy with the purchase April 22, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We really like this product. I have 4 kids and we go through a lot of cereal this avoids a lot of spills and even my 3 year old can do this! The only improvement this product could use, it is very lightweight and appears a little top heavy.
very helpful with little kids April 9, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
We bought this to make getting cereal for our five and two year old kids less of a hassle in the morning. We are trying to teach them a little independence and self support. They were climbing up into the cabinet to get cereal on the days we eat cereal and inevitably the box would end up half in the bowl and half on the counter. Portion control, we feel, is very important to instill in little children to ensure they group up into adults that understand what a true portion is an not the typical giant american version of a serving. The twist style dispenser with the soft rubber-like paddles are easy for small hands to turn. The crumb tray below helps, not eliminate but helps, keep the mess down. Each dispenser has a soft rubber cap to put back on the bottom to keep pest out or crumbs in. The construction is what you would expect for the price point, injection moulded plastic is the main component. Certain cereals work better than others. Flake type cereals tend to get broken up a bit while Cheerios or Corn Bran survive rather well.
All in all I would recommend this to nearly every one. It would also make a good dispenser for trail mix or something like that.
