Serves its purpose pretty well May 13, 2007
I bought factory reconditioned saw for cutting 2"-3" flagstone. I have gone through 2 blades using the saw almost daily for 2 months and it has performed well. Probably not as effective as a gas cut-off saw but for the money I can't complain. It will trip breakers if you bog it down in the cut; esp. with a long power cord. ( I use one with a built in overload switch) I have used 3 different blades with the saw: Hilti segmented rim, (not recommended for stone- $120 waste of money- only 12" blade available in stock in my town) Dewalt, and Bosch Turbo continuous rim. I'm partial to the Bosch though it produces a lot of dust but cuts the fastest. You cant go wrong with the Dewalt which I am currently using. ( just slightly slower cut and a little more costly) So far the Dewalt seems to be holding up better in wear (too soon to say for sure) For cutting flagstone this machine works well if you dont want to shell out $950 or more for a gas saw. Plus its not quite as loud, though you should definitely wear hearing and eye protection. It could be a very dangerous tool in the wrong hands so always be aware of your moves. Hope this helps!
