Product Description This is a reconditioned power tool. Reconditioned generally means that the tool has been returned to the manufacturer, who brings the tool back to like new condition. Some tools may contain cosmetic blemishes. The DeWalt DW735 13-Inch Factory Reconditioned Portable Planer is the best in class surface finish through a one of a kind 3 knife cutter-head - even in hard to plane figured woods. At 96 or 179 cuts per inch, the DW735 offers the finish via the most cuts per inch available on a bench top thickness planer. A fan-assisted chip ejection system aids in the removal of debris and prevents excess chips from marring the material. The unique automatic carriage lock minimizes the movement that causes snipe without engaging a lever before and after each pass. A solid 19-3/4 cast aluminum base provides twice the rigidity of traditional material support systems that utilize folding tables.
Amazon.com Review Sometimes, half an inch makes all the difference. But that's not the only reason to step up to the 735. Its powerful 10,000 rpm motor will handle anything you feed it--oak, walnut, exotics--with absolute ease. The three-knife cutterhead will make 96 or 179 cuts per inch, depending on which speed setting you choose. Mess is minimized with the fan-assisted chip ejection, which literally vacuums chips off the cutter-head and blows them out the exhaust. The 735's automatic carriage lock will save you from snipe by reducing the movement that causes it--what a great idea. We also love the redesigned thickness scale--it's big and super-visible, even in poor lighting. Those who do repetitive cuts will appreciate the turret depth-stop; set your most-used cuts to it once and you're always assured of accuracy. The home woodworker will be thrilled, and the professional's expectations will be more than met. This is a winner. -- Kris Jensen-Van Heste

great planer May 5, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
After reading the reviews of the shipping of reconditioned DeWalt DW735R planers, I was a bit apprehensive, but I actually prefer factory reconditioned on the assumption that they found the original bugs and fixed the equipment. Like Paul Paqel, mine arrived in pristine condition and a well packed and sturdy box. I hooked it up to the dust collector and produced a beautiful finish on 1x6 and 2x6 rough cedar boards. I built a table for the planer (photo; 24x48x30" high) that holds the feed surface level with a melamine infeed and outfeed extension surface - easy to build and reasonable cost.
terrific piece of equipment August 24, 2007 I have used it with Cherry ,oak and pine , and sailed through all of it without a glich. I would certainly reccomend to hobbiest as well as professionals

This is a very good piece of equipment that may take alittle time to understand but when you do it will preform with excelent results.
amazon stinks February 14, 2007 i ordered on 12/31/06, waited six weeks before they realized they couldn't supply me. they refered me to a second source. ninety dollars more for the same product.
This may be a good product, but don't expect to ever find out January 5, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I ordered this planer and two accessories (table extensions and dust collector) from Amazon. Their system showed them as being in stock when I ordered. They sent me shipping info on all the items. Weeks passed. Both accessories arrived and within an hour or so after that I got an email from Amazon saying they couldn't provide the planer. Had I gotten that email just a short time sooner I could have refused the shipment of now useless accessory items. What followed was weeks and weeks of wasted time and LOTS of aggravation just trying to return the things I couldn't use and get back to zero. I am only writing this because after weeks of putting me through the meat grinder that they call customer service, they were ignorant enough to send me an email asking me to review my recent purchases-- this planer and the accessories (my last purchases ever with Amazon). Since they never provided the product, I cannot review it; I am only able to do as their email subject line requested and review the "purchase"--HORRIBLE is an understatement.
