Leaks..cannot handle water pressure October 3, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
With others giving glowing reviews I thought I would take the plunge. It was a big mistake.
Connection to pipe always leaks no matter what. The problem: the rubber washer inside the connection to the pipe is poorly designed and cannot handle the back pressure this showerhead creates.
Keep in mind the lower the flow rating the head, the more pressure it exerts on the connection/joint to the pipe.
Based on my educated guess, their rubber washer is:
1) too large by 0.5 mm or less. You can see the washer bulging inside the head before the installation which is never a good news.
2) too hard/brittle. The washer is very hard.
Either way, the design makes it useless for me.
Saves lots of water, but feels like a regular shower September 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Alsons 1.6 GPM shower head is fantastic. You would never know that it is saving you water and energy. It fooled the entire family!
does not mist good show lower gpm September 21, 2008 I am not sure what the one post about cold misting shower was all about. This was not my experience. Fludics is based on large drops not aerated mist. I have lower pressure. (62 psi) and the Alsons 1.6 does increase the pressure compared to my Mohen 2.5 gpm head by 10 psi min.
The 4 jets shake to spread out the water giving full coverage. Oddly it uses more water than its single hole 1.6 version which sells for half the price. That one has 10 psi more force but it a bit stingy. This one divides the pressure up between the 4 holes. The large holes will make it less likely to clog up if you have hard water.
Note that the head is ABS chromed plastic. The fitting is chrome plated brass.
Overall you will get a nice shower if you have lower pressure and save water compared to a 2.5 gpm head. You will have to get used to the different spray pattern since it different than the traditional needle spray.
Misting Spray Keeps You Cold, Cold, Cold September 19, 2008 OK - I love that we're only using 1.6gpm with this showerhead, but I have to crank the temperature up to almost maximum to stay warm. The water doesn't envelope you to keep you warm. I guess it's saving even more water by encouraging a really fast shower!
saving water August 19, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is a very easy way to save water. We had a normal flow shower head before...I assume it is saving water but will see on the next bill.
Once installed it seems to aerate the water, rather than a full flow. I like it, but my wife thinks it is not a strong as a normal shower head. Not a problem, just something to be aware of.
