A little disappointed August 4, 2008 I guess it's a matter of interpretation or it's my confusion on the difference between watts and lumines. I was replacing a bulb in a large standing lamp. It had just consumed a 200 watt incandescent bulb and I was looking to be eco-friendly. I do not feel that the amount of light from this bulb matches the incandescent bulb. Unfortunately, it did not provide enough light for the situation, but I did find a good home for it in my workshop. I need to better educate myself on how to compare the fluorescent and incandescent bulbs.
light bulb June 28, 2008 Slow to achieve maximum brightness, but lighting ability quite good. Appears cooler when burning than incandescent bulbs.
5 -7 years , how about not even 1! April 22, 2008 I replaced all of my bulbs that are not ornamental to CFL bulbs. I have tried Feit and GE and neither lasted 1 year. Boy did I take the bait. I always questioned the GREEN label on these bulbs because of the MERCURY in them. Fluorescent tubes have always been labeled toxic because of the powder in them when broken.
One tip I suggest is, to put the date of installation in sharpie marker on the base. I do this to all of my bulbs so I know how long they have lasted.
I have to admit they do lower your electric bill but I'm not sure this is the long term solution, that is for sure. As for sending in and getting replacement bulbs, make sure you keep your receipt and photo copy it. Have you noticed how most of the paper receipts you get fade out before a year? Makes you wonder.
Dead on arrival April 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I ordered one and it was dead on arrival. There were obviously loose parts in the ballast, as when I shook it gently, it made quite a bit of noise. I returned it for a refund and won't bother gambling on a replacement.
do not buy these under any circumstances January 18, 2008 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
compact fluorescents are a good idea. they save money and the environment. these are garbage. i bought 8. one had a defective base and wouldn't screw in. four wouldn't light up at all. the three that did light up flickered, gave off a horrible smell and made a loud buzzing sound. these bulbs are the lowest quality product i've ever seen. i later bought a different and cheaper brand at home depot which work perfectly.
