This lightweight Hoover S2203 vacuum is the ideal machine for apartments and quick household cleanups. It captures dirt in a chamber rather than a bag, cleans both carpets and bare floors, and can be stored on a wall-mounted hanging handle (included). To drive the brush roll, the 10-inch head has a motor separate from the suction motor, and the head's window permits monitoring of brush-roll operation. For bare-floor cleaning, the brush roll shuts off. Emptying the dirt chamber is easy, and the filter inside the chamber may be brushed clean or washed. Users can clean the brush roll easily, but if its belt wears out, it must be replaced by a professional. Power comes from a 15-foot power cord, which provides plenty of room for roaming. The vacuum lies flat for cleaning under furniture, weighs less than 5 pounds, assembles with two screw-nut sets (included), and carries a one-year warranty against defects.

I wish this were still available June 14, 2008
Six years ago we bought the Hoover S2203 Brush Vac and loved it's ease of use for cleaning the hardwood floors in our kitchen and for touching up carpeted areas between regular vacuuming!
For some reason, the carpet cleaning capacity has now failed. We would like to replace it, but it is no longer available. Alas. Other light-weight vacs either can't do the job on rugs and carpet or they are hard to push on carpet if they do clean well.
Hoover people, if anyone reads these reviews, please re-introduce this great machine!

hoover brush vac is the greatest invention since sliced bread i have had one for a number of years but i dropped it and broke the catch so i now have to duck tape it together i would like to purchase another as a matter of fact i would buy two just to have one on hand in case one broke or i dropped it again it is so lightweight and cleans up cat fur etc with such ease i have 3 cats and they love to leave their fur on my carpets beds lap etc.. sure hope this item has not gone off the market

For the weekly quick floor cleaning, this is a great machine. Suction of fine dust and particles is excellent. Snap to use. Filter is superior hepa, made of durable vinyl, made to last. Just wash after every use. Drawbacks: Very noisy and loud; roller belt is only 1/4" wide and may need replacing in two years (spray with silicon to prolong life). All in all, a great machine for the price. Meant primarily for quick floor clean ups (hard and rugs). For hardcore cleaning, I use my big vaccuum with hose and attachments.

I read all of the reviews for this before buying it and thought I'd give it a try -- not a big risk for [money]! I love it! I did not have very high expectations of the carpet cleaning ability but it does amazingly well. On bare floors it generally does great, thought at times bigger particles don't get picked up. But, this is so lightweight that I just pick it up and put it down on the thing I want to pick up. I have a bad back so lugging my big vacuum around for small everyday jobs like cat litter and hair wasn't happening. This really fit the bill!

At first when I received this Hoover in the mail I thought I had ordered a toy for my daughter. It is incredible light yet powerfully strong. I opened the package right away and assembled it without a problem. Very easy to assemble. I ordered this vacuum to specifically clean two new area rugs I recently purchased. It worked fantastic with the area rugs not to mention the wall to wall carpeting in my bedroom. The fact that it does not need a bag is so conveniant. I hate changing bags on vacuums. This is a great machine at a wonderful price. it is incredibly strong yet light enough for my 6 year old daughter to help with the cleaning as well. It is also fantastic because I can go from cleaning the area rugh to cleaning the hard wood floor with the flip of a switch. I would highly recommend this vacuum to everyone.
