Product Description
Hoover Quik-Broom Supreme. N56 634 6142T

Amazon.com Review
Set this lightweight vacuum in a closet like a broom (or hang it from its handle hole) and use it just as often and just as conveniently. Weighing just 7 pounds and standing 47 inches high, the vacuum's brushless nozzle, powered by a 430-watt motor, cleans carpets and bare floors. The plastic vacuum has no bags to mess with; instead, it captures dirt in a chamber, above which is a permanent, washable filter. The chamber detaches for emptying and is transparent, so the dirt level can be monitored. Additional convenience is provided by a 3-foot hose with a crevice tool attached and a handle for lifting the vacuum horizontally to clean stairs. The cord measures 20 feet, and the vacuum assembles quickly with a single screw (which is included). Hoover provides a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

2 out of 5 stars Not very good for anyone with pets   September 19, 2004

This does not pick up hair very well and is meant for mere surface dust. Stopped working at all after about eight months.

1 out of 5 stars Not for carpets with hair   December 31, 2003

This little vacuum is not useful if there is hair(human) spread on the carpet. We have to manually remove the hair after vacuuming.
Not only that, the accessories do not serve the purpose as the hose is very short.
I don't recommend this product for anybody.

2 out of 5 stars Two stars is generous for this vacuum   October 5, 2003
I received this item last year as a Christmas gift. I had specifically asked for this electric broom since I had done some research on-line and this one sounded the best. I have five pugs and they shed 365 days a year! Some days they shed like ten pugs, it is very frustrating because the hair is always there. I needed an easy to use vacuum since we only have a central vac system in our house.
At first I thought this product was great and easy to use. But the more I used it the more frustrated I got. The hose attachment is so inconvenient to use. Plus it could be about 3 feet longer to reach anything important. I found myself having to hold the elec-broom up off the ground to reach some cobwebs in a corner. It is light but cumbersome to have to lift and vacuum with. It would be nice if the unit could stand on it's own. If you have to stop for a second to move something you basically have to lay the unit on the floor.
It also doesn't reach underneath any type of furniture. Plus the way the front release is positioned it is in the right spot to have the overhang on the bottom of my kitchen cabinets hit it and make the filter become unhooked.
I found it annoying to have to empty the filter so often and the vacuum got pretty dingy and dirty itself. The button that allows you to turn off the brush is located at foot level which makes you think you can use your foot to turn it on and off. It took a few months but the switch broke quickly (luckily my husband is handy and he was able to fix it). Now I have to be very careful when I use the switch.
At this time I find myself looking for a new unit. One that can do the job I need. If you have pets that shed a lot and want to use an electric broom daily, I wouldn't waist my time or money with this vacuum.

4 out of 5 stars A must for pet owners with wood floors and shedding issues   October 2, 2003
I have a dog that seems to do nothing but eat, sleep and SHED. I have looked everywhere for a product that is lightweight and easy to use to pick up the hair that seems to get into everything. Magnetic brooms are okay but the hair is very light and fine and most of it just gets stirred up. My apartment has hardwood floors and this is PERFECT for them. It is so lightweight and easy to use and IMPORTANTLY, easy to unclog when the hair gets in the way (also easy to tell as the hair in the transparent canister stops spinning). Also great for picking up and dirt and other things she tracks in.

That being said, this is not something to get if you have carpeting. I have assorted throw rugs throughout the apartment and this really does nothing for those. I do however also have a dirt devil handvac that does extremely well at getting the hair out of the rugs.

All in all, if you have wood floors this is a great little product, especially if you have pets.

3 out of 5 stars Good for what it's intended to do   September 13, 2003
Do not buy this product for rugs or thick carpet. It simply does not do well there. However, I do recommend it for floors and short carpet.

Mine was bought for quick cleanup at my computer consulting business. When confetti from my shredder spills, or soil from a potted plant gets on the carpet, this is the tool to clean it up. I needed something light that I could keep in a small closet for quick use. This vac does the job well.

The construction is attractive, but not sturdy. This is a light-duty device, and would not do well under heavy use (in my opinion). I expected some fragility from a vac that met my needs for lightness. I am quite happy with this product. I can whip it around easily, and get that piece of dirt from under my reception desk without much effort.

I got it for $29, so the price was right. I got it for occasional quick cleanups at the office, so a light duty device was right. I like not having to buy bags for it, so that was right, too.

I gave the unit 3 stars because it does not exceed my expectations in any particular way. It just does what it is supposed to do.
