Amazon.com Review No workshop or tool box is complete without at least one dependable and powerful cordless drill/driver. Skil's 2887-05, 3/8-inch keyless chuck drill/driver has a two-speed gear box that allows the user to shift from high speed drilling to high torque for driving screws or bolts. The gear change lever is located on top of the tool housing above the two-finger variable speed trigger. The forward/reverse switch on this drill is located just above the trigger so that you can switch direction without changing your grip, and there is a forward/reverse indicator light on top of the housing. There is a built-in bit storage compartment on top of the housing. Especially handy is the built-in bit index No more guessing at which bit is needed for which screw. Simply place a screw in the index and you'll find the bit size you will need. The 2887-05 also comes with a removable side handle for added two-fisted leverage when drilling or driving on high torque. The drill/driver is powered by an 18-volt Ni-Cad battery which gives the user superior power and extended battery life. The battery slides easily onto the bottom of the tool giving the drill/driver optimum balance. Included with the 2587-05 is an extra battery, a one-hour charger and carrying case. --C. Dwight Barnett

Jazzy Looks - good power October 27, 2008 O.K. The looks might not be to your taste (mine either) but for the bucks, this is a fine drill.
Although some others said that charge life could be better, it comes with 2 batteries.
Hey! If you can't finish the job with that much juice, its time to break out the corded drill.
Enjoy

plenty strong October 25, 2008 I am just using this for small projects, and is has been more than powerful for me. On several occasions I have used it all day long. I have built walls, garden boxes, and will be building a shelving system today. Keep in mind I do not use this every day, but it is light enough that it is comfortable to use all day long. I bought this based on the positive reviews on here, and can't be happier with my purchase.
Skil 18-volt 2887-05(B2) is every bit as good as good as Bosch October 17, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
The Skil 2887-05(B2) 18-volt cordless drill is every bit as good as its Bosch counterpart, only much less expensive. Both are manufactured by Bosch in China, and the Skill sells for about half the price of the Bosch. Compare these two excellent cordless drills and decide!
Skill Drill October 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The drill came before the delivery date given and it is more powerful and operational than other drills that I have used. One of the main reasons I bought this drill over Dewalt and Ryobi was that it came with 2 batteries. However, it has out performed both comprable drills.
One Flaw to this Drill October 3, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
For the most part I like this drill. It is comfortable in my hand, has good balance, works great, and with the two batteries, very seldom do I have to wait for a battery to charge. There is one major complaint I have with this drill and it is the design of the battery packs. To change them out is a hassle. After any significant use, and a little bit of dust accumulates on them, they are sometimes quite difficult to remove from the drill. Compared to other stab type drill packs, these are a mojor downside. If you dont use the drill a ton, it is a great drill for the price. If you use it significantly, you may want to consider another drill.
