Product Description Poulan/Weedeater XT260 Featherlite Plus 16", Curved Shaft, Gas Trimmer, 25CC, High Output Engine, Dual Line Cutting Head, EPA & C.A.R.B. Compliant.
Amazon.com Product Review Electrolux's gasoline-powered, curved-shaft string trimmer features a 16-inch cutting path for taking out that weed patch quickly. Powered by a unit's 25 cc engine, this trimmer zips quickly through stubborn weeds, vines, and thistle. Electrolux's handy, Tap-'n'-Go line-advance lets out line smoothly when the head is quickly bumped on the ground--so you do the whole yard at once without having to kill the engine, re-string, and start up again every time the line gets sucked into that chain link fence. A rugged, plastic housing and lightweight aluminum shaft mean optimal handling and durability. And, a lightweight design ensures superb maneuverability for buzzing around landscape features, down long fence lines, and between flowers. More great features: Easy no-tool assembly gets you up and running quickly. The unit's quiet engine won't annoy the neighbors and is easy to start. A squeezable primer bulb facilitates startups on colder days. And, Electrolux's Quick-Snap spool replacement lets you change heads in less than ten seconds. Best of all, the purchase is covered by manufacturer 2-year warranty. Brian D. Olson

Not the worst, not great either. September 15, 2008 I bought this trimmer in an "Emergency" why my old trimmer broke on the day of a party where I needed my yard trimmed. I don't normally buy things without researching, but this time I did. I'm not completely happy with my purchase, and I paid a lot more than it's selling here on amazon.
First off out of the box, it's not a bad looking thing, and it's lightweight. It's also a plus that it required little assembly (one small wingnut). It has a primer bulb to help it start, and is easy to pull over.
Now the problems. It wouldn't stay running out of the box, no matter what the setting on the choke was. I finally got it running after leaving the throttle wide open all the time. Also, the string is very difficult to load, and it uses a lot of it. In addition, all of the moving parts are plastic (choke, throttle), which means I know that they are going to break at a bad time.
I finally went online to ebay and bought a carb adjustement tool (spline shaped). After moving both screws 1.5 turns out, it runs OK now. I wasn't happy to spend an extra $15 on this thing, but it now makes it manageable.
Also, this thing doesn't have a clutch, which means the head is spinning whenever the engine is running. It makes things very difficult, and slightly dangerous. Next time I am spending my money on a better machine.
Did Not Work Once July 12, 2008 My wife purchased this model for me as a Father's Day gift. I carefully read the owner's manual and attempted to start the trimmer. It would not start. I tried again the next day and the next. In two weeks time, this piece of garbage would not start once. Customer service at Poulan was no help at all. I will not purchase any Poulan/Weedeater product again.
***READ THIS BEFORE YOU GIVE UP*** Product runs well after carburetor adjustments May 30, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I thought this product was junk also but thanks to one of the previous reviewers I ordered a WALBRO CARBURETOR ADJUSTING TOOL off ebay for $15 (shipped) and then I used it to set both the high and low speed carburetor adjustments to 1.5 turns out and now the engine runs like its supposed to (can do most of my trimming in the Run setting at idle speed). The adjustment took me all of 1 minute. So before you give up on this product order the tool and make the carburetor adjustments.
Can Be Retro-fitted for 5 Star Trimming May 13, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Can Be Retro-fitted for 5 star Trimming.
This Trimmer was worthless before I retro-fitted it with a Grass Gator(R) 8010 Replacement Trimmer Head Kit.
The Grass Gator (Load n' Cut) Trimmer Head allowed me to use 0.155 inch diameter Maxi-Edge trimming line by Arnold -- I cut 4 pcs of 6 inch long line.
The Maxi-Edge trimmer line only wore about 0.5 inches after one use on some aggressive edging. I would have gone through at least a spool of the original trimmer line.
The 0.155 Maxi-Edge timming line that I used is actually intended for a line mower and is commercial grade. It saved me time, money and a lot of frustration.
If this Weed Eater came with the retro-fited head it would be one of the best on the market.
Out of the box this trimmer is a 1 or 2 star trimmer. With the Retro-fit noted above -- it becomes a 5 star trimmer. So I rated it at 3 stars because I had to do a $15 retro-fit to bring it up to 5 star level.
Difficult to keep running March 20, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This trimmer has been a problem from the time I bought it. I wish I still had the receipt. I thought it might need to break in after 2 or 3 uses. I have used it about 6 times. Today I gave up halfway through my lawn. It constantly stops especially when trying to give it gas. Full choke, half choke, run. It doesn't matter. The Weed Eater is my most regrettable yard purchase ever.
