Highly Recommended! August 14, 2008 I have owned this product for 3 months and I use it to water the front lawn and flowerbeds everyday for 30 minutes at 6 am and 6 pm. I love it so much I'm going to purchase one for the backyard/garden area. I have zero complaints and I highly recommend this to anyone. Our yard looks as healthy as the neighbors and he has an underground watering system. Our yard and flower beds have never looked this good!!!!
It's a hammer. July 21, 2008 The unit will hammer the water system. Unfortuately I will be replacing my water line because of the impact of the hammering. I had been gone for a week and returned to find my older galvanized pipes could not take the impact and failed. [Upside, the damage was not in the house.]
NOT WATERPROOF July 7, 2008 We've had this for around 3 months now and it's a GREAT little timer. The "choice wheel" is huge so older or gloved hands can change the settings with ease. The battery lasts forever too. It's very cost-effective. The one and only problem we've had was in it's hardiness. The screws, rubber seals, etc are all waterproof. You can dunk it and it'll be fine. What's NOT waterproof is the buttons to the left of the timer. Ours leaked after a couple of months of use and died. We swapped it out at Wal-mart and the new one sits in a plastic bag, safe and sound and keeping things going. I even bought another one for our backyard. Cheaper than installing an entire sprinkler system and it runs when you want it to. :)
Very Poor Quality.. Will Not Last June 14, 2008 I have purchased at least three (3) Nelson Water timers of various models. This particular model is the last one I purchased, or will ever purchase. The unit works great for the first two seasons, but it will not last the third. In the northeast, you only need a water timer 3 to 4 months out of the year. So in actuality this unit will last you approximately 8 months before it dies. I purchased this unit the early part of 2006. It worked great that summer and in 2007. However, yesterday it started making a strange noise. I disconnected it, and was able to feel and hear the water that had accumulated inside. Apparently something inside had let the passing water into the electronics part of the unit. It was dead. Nelson no longer produces quality products.. If you want a water timer that will last, take my advice, leave "Nelson" alone.
Easy to use, works great July 20, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this at the beginning of the summer (2007) for $20 at Menards. I have hoses running off of it to several gardens (using adaptors). It has been going strong (2x a day for 30 minutes) for the past two months. I have not had any difficulty with it at all. It is easy to use, and you don't need to read the instruction manual to figure out how to set it up. It installs in minutes. I have been very pleased with it so far ...
