Amazon.com Review This tiller comes with a 5-horsepower Briggs & Stratton engine, capable of 78 rpm, which gives it the power it needs to till dense soil and break rough ground. It has a tilling width of 14 to 26 inches and four four-tined rotary blades, each with 14-inch self-sharpening, carbon steel, ground-and-polished slasher tines, the better to tear up your pea patch. The machine has a strong steel frame, welded and braced, and a handle of 14-gauge seamless tubular steel. While it's not a luxury sedan, it does have some nice features. The throttle is located conveniently on the handle panel, the heavy-duty transmission is belt-driven (which saves the gears), the chain drive is fully serviceable, and the transmission chain is encased and sealed, protecting the chain from being fouled by soil--and your soil from being fouled by transmission oil. The drag stake can be adjusted--it's best set firmly in the ground--and the drive tiller can till up to a depth of 1 foot. With its large, thick tines, this is one sturdy tool, bare bones but tough, built to do its job and keep on doing it for a long time.
