First house, first mouse! November 14, 2008 I knew the day would come having a dog door and leaving the garage door open while I run in groceries....I figured it's about time we got our first mouse. After finding my tortillas chewed up on the kitchen counter I knew I had a problem. I read reviews on the Home Depot site and decided to get this one. I wanted the mouse to have a quick death. I didn't want the spring traps because I would feel awful if it didn't work right and had to deal with hours of pain...so I followed the directions and this worked great. An hour later, I see the tail poking out the back. Rest in peace little mouse. I placed it in my basement too because I figured where there's one mouse there are probably more.
A mouse with a death wish November 11, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've been battling a very smart mouse in my kitchen for several weeks now. He kept eating the bait off the conventional snap traps and leaving his little pellets behind. He would circle the perimeter of the glue traps but not touch them. Due to having pets, I can't put out the poisons. I watched from a distance early one morning as he climbed into a jaw trap, licked the peanut butter off and then glanced at me as if to say "Nya-nya-nya-nya-nya-nya!". At that point I became enraged and purchased the Victor Electronic Mouse Trap. This little trap does catch and kill the mice. Unfortunately, the catch indicator light doesn't work on my unit. This is irritating because you don't know if there is a catch or not unless you open it up and look. While this is not a "cure all" I will continue to use this trap until I get all the cracks and crevices sealed up.
Worth the money November 10, 2008 I just got one and put it in an attached garage. Three dead soldiers since sundown. Instead of peanut butter I used a drop of Tomcat Mouse Attractant Gel which cost 2 or 3 [....] for a small bottle. The only downside to this device is that it kills one at a time. Therefore, if you have a large problem, you will need to purchase two or three of these or have to resort to more draconian means to exterminate them (poison, snap traps, glue traps). I had glue traps out in the garage but not with the colder weather the glue did not get sticky enough to catch them. I have used the bait blocks before, but I have pets and did not want to risk them finding the poison or a mouse that ate it. As far as the price, if you get 20 mice for 20 [...], that is more economical than some of the snap traps.
Very effective November 4, 2008 I've had one of these traps for about 6 months, and I just got three more this weekend. I've tried four different kinds of traps: this one, the old-style snap trap, a new-style snap trap that looks like a big clothes pin, and a tilting no-kill trap with a gravity-closed door, and this is the only design that has ever caught a mouse. The first one I bought has racked up seven kills sitting within two feet of two snap traps that have scored zero in that same time. The three new ones have three total kills in their first two days.
Bait with a little peanut butter, then place it alongside a wall. Mice like to stay close to walls for safety as they travel around, so you do a lot better up next to a wall than out in the open. Yes, the trap is a little pricey, but it gets results. I wish I had not wasted money on all the other kinds of cheaper traps first.
Victor Electronic Mousetrap November 3, 2008 I am such a girl about these things. I don't even like to SEE mice, let alone kill and dispose of them; ugh! This is a GREAT product.
