Product Description
Banish Pests with Sounds They Can't Stand Heavy Duty, Metal Cased Black and Decker Ultrasonic and Sonic Electronic Pest Repeller for: Rats and Mice Cockroaches Spiders Scorpions Other Pests, Based on Independent Laboratory Tests SAFE for use around humans, dogs, cats, birds and fish. Powerful, complex ultrasonic and sonic (audible) signals repel pests who cannot adapt to the constantly changing array of sounds.. Ultrasonic sounds will not harm humans, dogs, cats, birds or fish. Keep unit away from pet tarantulas, mice, hamsters, gerbils and rabbits. User Friendly Controls: Adjust settings on unit's back to repel specific pests. Ultrasonic (quiet) settings control most indoor pests. Sonic (audible) sounds control mostly larger animal pests. About Ultrasound: Nearly silent to humans and most animals, annoying to bugs and mice. Ultrasonic pest repeller sounds disrupt pests' nervous systems, affecting feeding and communication, forcing them to leave the area. Ultrasound is less intense over distance and absorbed by soft objects. Ultrasound cannot reach nesting and feeding places behind walls, under floors, or within cracks. Multiple units may be necessary for larger rooms. About Sonic Sound: Sonic sound waves are low frequency, audible sounds with greater range than ultrasonic waves. Lower frequency sounds are more effective repelling rats and larger pests and protecting larger areas. Caution: Prolonged exposure to loud and medium settings is not recommended for confined pets and irritates humans. How to Use: Indoor use. Optimally will cover an extra large room. Place on flat surface. Operate pest repeller 24/7 for best results. Occasionally move to a different location. For best results, place additional units in adjacent rooms on each level of the dwelling. Expect results within 2 weeks. Continue use once pests leave. Diagram on unit's back shows which sound pattern and volume switch positions to choose for specific pests. IMPORTANT: Black and Deck

2 out of 5 stars Noisy   October 20, 2008
I got the unit a few days ago and set it up in my garage. In the past, it appears that the field mice have been entering my house in the winter through the garage, so it made sense to install it there. I found the unit loud and annoying, but it didn't seem to affect any of my dogs on the first floor. Unfortunately, on the third day, I actually saw a field mouse run into the garage when I opened the garage door, so the unit doesn't seem to keep field mice out. Hopefully the mouse (mice) will leave because the unit is so annoying. I have also ordered an Attack Wave Pestrepeller which may also help.

5 out of 5 stars Works great in Atlanta!   September 4, 2008

I have read few negative reviews here and they don't look very convincing. We had problem in our attic with flying squirrels and I actually saw them few times so I know what it was for sure. They drove my wife and me crazy running inside of the roof and chewing through walls. It was one of the most stressful experiences in our house. Nothing worked and one time I locked one critter in the roof by patching a hole so we had an awful smell for a month until it dried out. I tried traps, sprayed etc.
Finally I put an electric outlet in the attic and bought the B&D unit at local store. Since the first day for last 6 months nothing is coming to our attic. Simply a miracle.
Less than $40 bought us a peaceful home. I know the exterminators or contractors would cost fortune. Someone I know spend over $5000 on them (catching and sealing the attic). I still have fairly large holes that will easy let in even larger critters. Instead just enjoy total silence.
I hope this will help someone and there is no risk in buying since you can always return it if it doesn't work. It was my last resort and hopefully really lasting solution. I use lowest setting for rodents since higher settings make too much noise. It still works great!
Best regards.

2 out of 5 stars It won't work for mosquitoes!   July 14, 2008

Bought this thinking it would keep mosquitoes away from my room, but it didn't work. And the noise is very annoying, even when it is on quiet. Don't buy it!

5 out of 5 stars IT REALLY WORKS ON RODENTS.   January 28, 2008

I have used this electronic pest repeller in my hunting camp (in the middle of the woods) and in my barn. The devices are on timers and set on full power for rodents. I use multiple devices in the barn due to it's size and one in each room at the hunting camp. I disconnect them when I'm there. Prior to using these electronic repellers I consistantly had problems with rodents (mice and rats)getting in the buildings, especially during the winter. I no longer have ANY problems with mice or rats. I had previously tried the smaller units with little success. Don't waste your money on smaller, direct plug in units for rodents, they just are not powerful enough. You will have to use these FULL SIZE XL UNITS set on "rodent" and "loud" to work effectively, so you will want turn them off when you are there. I use timers to help keep the rodents from "getting used to the noise" (if in fact that does happen). Since we don't have any roaches at either location, I would have to guess that it works for them too.

4 out of 5 stars Works Great So far   January 8, 2008

I bought this to get rid of the squirrels that take up residence in my attic every winter. The thought of traps (and having to "off" them once I caught them) was not appealing. I've heard a few squirrels in the attic since installing it, but they don't stay long, so I hope they get the message and don't come back. The device is smaller than it looks in the picture, a little bigger than a soda can. It has three sound levels, and all but the quietest do make noise. We cannot hear it on the medium setting in the house though unless it is very quiet. So far I am very happy with it.
