Great lightweight - powerful light November 11, 2008 As a fire and explosion investigator, I spend time in buildings that do not have utilities and have been boarded up with plywood - it is usually pitch black inside - this light is not just lightweight, but also very powerful and can light an entire room for about four hours - well worth the purchase.
missing a part October 8, 2008 I received this light a few weeks ago. It took a while to be delivered and it was missing a part. I went to put it together and it is missing a nut that holds the handle on. Because of that mistake I have to make a trip to the hardware store. This will cost me thirty minutes of my time, all because they did not check the box, or at least put extra parts in the bag.
The light is not that bright, but it works for what I need it for. It is nice to have where power is not available.
It's a flashlight NOT a "work" light September 19, 2008 In complete agreement with the other two reviewers on the misleading name of this product. A "work light" is most commonly associated with a flood light that illuminates a room or large outdoor area. This only casts a singular beam forward. Anything out side of the beam area is in the dark. Two stars given only because it actaully turns on, but for performance and build it's a dud, because it doesn't pull it's weight. I can get a halogen that will light up our entire yard for under $30.00, so this unit is pretty much useless. I have two hand held flashlights with less than a 10th of the LED's in them that cast a better beam than this. Obviously a cheap production run to take silly American's money for the newest "cool" looking gadget. This gets returned for a refund.
Excellent Portable Lighting ! January 18, 2008 3 out of 6 found this review helpful
LED's are coming of age with this excellent work light. While a similar size and shape 500 watt halogen worklight fills a normal sized room with brilliant light, it requires 4+ Amps at 110 volts AC and generates a hair-dryer's heat load. This Ultra-bright LED worklight generates about 1/4 as much illumination, without needing to be plugged in and remains cool to the touch doing it.
I've been looking for just such a superb worklight to use renovating our boat. The unit doesn't require 110 AC, something rare on most reasonable sized boats, and doesn't burn you when you touch it in tight workspaces. Being small, compact, portable, and rechargeable, it's idea for nautical use onboard.
If you've been waiting for a really good LED worklight, this is the one.
It has its uses January 18, 2008 21 out of 21 found this review helpful
Light Intensity - Not as bright as halogen, comparable to emergency exit lights with two 5.4 watt krypton lamp with aluminum reflectors. In a pitch black room, positioned 5 feet away from a wall, it delivers a circular focus beam 32 inches in diameter like a flashlight but without the dark rings. Light intensity tapers off drastically beyond the focus beam. Works like a spotlight instead of a wide angle flood light. It won't light up the whole room but good enough for really small areas. Light Quality - Cool white, comparable to fluorescent, no harsh shadows Build Quality - Unit made out of cheap plastic except for handle & stand. Features - Comes with AC & DC chargers Low battery, charging & fully charged colored light indicators Value - A 3x1watt MR16 LED lamp or a 1x3 watt Luxeon LED lamp will do the same job but they are priced from $35 to $50 each and you have to supply your own power source. To me, this is a $50 flashlight that runs for 3 hours, not a work flood. If you're changing a flat tire, see what's rattling under the hood of you car while keeping both of your hands free, this is useful.
