 Lacks polish but good solid tool November 10, 2008
I'm an automotive heavyline mechanic. This thing comes in handy daily stripping wires filing etc... every tool in it gets used. Saves me time when I have to work away from my stalls. I dont have to beat a path to and from my tool box.
Some folks are saying it's too heavy. I haven't noticed. Feels very solid, sturdy contruction. I carry it on my belt in the sheath at work and everywhere else. It hasn't left my side since I opened the box. I dont notice the weight either. Some reviews have it sounding like you have a .45 on your hip. Seems exaggerated. I've used the Wave and comparing the too I don't feel like I'm going to snap it in half like I did with the wave. The saw/file are a nice feature. They are two pieces that would wear out faster than the rest or break. Knowing if they do their cheap to replace is nice.
All that being said. It's not very polished. There's play in between the two grips when it's folded together. THe play goes away when you flip it around to use the pliers. This to me says it's designed that way. Could be better. If you shake it slightly when closed the handles open.
The blades have tool markings on them I expected polished steel like any other pocket knife. Minor complaint but for what you spend I'm a little disappointed. Mine came with a leather sheath. The sheath is cheap screams made in Taiwan.
All in all I'm very happy with the purchase and the tool. Could be a 5 but with the tool marks, crappy sheath, looseness in the design for the price it those issues shouldn't be.

the leatherman i order wasnt new it was used the leather case was damaged peices of were damaged and missing
