Compact very efficient compact broom & dustpan! September 5, 2008 This very compact broom and dustpan is great for getting into tight spaces. The broom works extremely well sweeping mats as well as bare floors. I leave the dustpan standing on the floor with the broom snapped on to it. It takes up very little floor space. You can snap the dustpan up so it can hang flat against the wall, attached to the broom. The snapping mechanism does not seem that sturdy to me. If you purchase this item, keep this in mind. It seems like continuous snapping and unsnapping the dustpan into place for sweeping and back into a flat position will cause it to collapse. It is best to just let the dustpan sit on the floor, rather than hang it up, so that you do not have to keep buying a replacement sweep set. The dustpan and broom are a nice height, especially for such a compact set. You do not have to stoop over to sweep with this sweep set unless you are very tall.
Nice broom and dustpan July 19, 2008 I don't know why everyone is complaining about the height of this set. It's no different than any other broom and dustpan combination set out there. It's the exact same height as my old one that needed to retire. My husband is 6'1" and he doesn't complain about it being too short to use. I'm really pleased with this item. It stores so nicely, too. I'm glad I ignored all the complaints and went ahead with the purchase.
So far si good July 5, 2008 We bought this broom/dustpan for our RV. This is our first trip using it. I especially like the front edge. It really does direct everything to go into the dustpan not under it. I also like that it can hang up as space in an RV is limited. When it arrived it did not seem as strong as I had hoped, but as I said in my title......so far so good.
Not typical "Good Grips" quality June 18, 2008 I am a big fan of Oxo's Good Grips product line, and have been known to purchase items I have no actual need for, figuring if I ever do have a need, I want the best.
This particular item, however, truly disappoints. The plastic tray is very flimsy. The hinging mechanism on the tray is not very good--I think it is intended to allow the tray to lock in either an open or closed position, but does neither very well. The center of gravity of the handles is such that it tends to tip over unless balanced perfectly or left leaning against a wall.
I plan to keep my eyes open for a reasonably-priced commercial version to replace this as soon as possible.
I love this broom set May 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really like this broom set. It's perfect for my small apartment, stores nicely against the wall and is very easy to use. Sweeps up really well too.
A great feature is that the dust bin will stand up on its own, so no need to hold it. The broom handle has a great flexible palm protective grip on top, so no sweeping blisters.
As for the height, I worked in a few restaurants when I was younger and all of them had loads of these types of broom sets, which are meant to be this height. They're meant for quick sweep up jobs and easy storage.
Because of the shorter handle, if you want to hold it like a regular broom (gripping at the top of the handle), you will have to lean over slightly. If you don't want to lean at all, you're supposed to hold it further down the handle, not at the top, with your arm straightened.
