Amazon.com Review The Workmate 225 might be what's missing from your home shop. Its versatility makes it an especially ideal choice for those with limited shop floor space: Use it as a workbench, a bench tool stand, a vise, or a sawhorse; when the job's done, you can quickly break it down and store it out of the way. (Try that with a regular workbench!) Its portability is no small advantage: essentially, the Workmate lets you move your shop wherever you need it. The Workmate's legs fold under to provide the lower height and stability needed for use as a base for bench tools. Its all-steel construction and rubber feet ensure a stable, strong work surface that supports up to 450 pounds. And its independently adjustable jaws have two swivel pegs each, allowing you to hold almost anything. The Workmate 225 is Black & Decker's intro model. They also offer the Workmate 550, which is a little burlier, has a nice clamping device, and is more expensive. For light-duty, home shop use, though, the Workmate 225 is an excellent choice. --Tim Block

Great Bench August 28, 2008 This is a very good and handy bench. It folds up easily and can be stored conveniently in a small space.
This bench serves my purposes very well. I wish that the front cross beam in the stand was not so close to the front because I do my work from a wheelchair and it does get into my way a bit, but I have learned to live with it by seating my self at a corner facing the bench diagonally. It is light enough so I can pull and shove it around to whatever position I want. Also, assembly was a bit of a chore done alone and in a wheelchair. I did it, so anyone with less of a handicap should find it a breeze to assemble. An additional plus: THE ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS WERE IN CLEAR AND PROPER ENGLISH.
Solid performer July 31, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Skeptical having read the reviews of this product, I am pleasantly surprised by its performance. The assembly is simple, although the instructions are inadequate in size and detail. I ended up looking at the large photo of the assembled product on the outside of the packing box and that made the process easy. I did not find the plastic handles on the turnscrews to be flimsy. I have handled 10 foot pieces of lumber without a problem. Storage is simple and it takes up little space. I recommend the B&D workbench.
Great product, poor customer service June 30, 2008 This product arrived missing the vice screws. I placed multiple calls to Black & Decker customer service to get this resolved. They first stated that items sold through Amazon.com were not guaranteed. They backed down on that stance quickly. Then they could not find any documentation for this product in their database, so they guessed and sent me the wrong parts. Repeat phone calls ensued, each time with the argument that products sold through Amazon are not guaranteed. They finally gave up and sent me to a local service center. That also took multiple calls - they didn't even answer the phone the first time. However, they did figure out the right parts and got them to me (after wanting me to pay for them, which I refused). The product itself is great. I'm working on a fairly large project that has taken many weekends, and the Workmate has been an extremely useful tool that has saved me many hours. I highly recommend the product - just cross your fingers and hope that it arrives with all parts.
A great bargain on a great piece of equipment June 19, 2008 This Workmate workbench is well-built, solid as a rock and has a host of applications. It was easy to assemble and has worked flawlessly. The vise function, the stability of the fold-out legs and the sturdy construction have made this a pleasure to use. Buy one and enjoy its many uses!
Good, basic workbench May 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The workbench arrived in good shape (even if the shipping box was knocked around) and was fairly simple to assemble. Used exclusively so far for cutting lumber, it has performed well. Clamps uneven pieces of wood nicely.
