Product Description The GE SmartWater replacement filter set (FXSVC) fits all GE SmartWater dual-stage drinking water filters and many other brands of dual housing filters such as Culligan and OMNIFILTER, that accept 9.75 x 2.5 inch filters including: GE GXSV10C, GE GNSV25CBL, GNSV30CWW, GNSV30CCC, GE GXSL03C, GE GNSL05CBL, and Culligan SY-2500. It is interchangeable with the GE FXSLC & Culligan D250 filters. When installing, the white filter with green ends goes in Position 1 (Closest to the inlet), and the other filter goes in Position 2. It removes the following impurities: 99% of Chemicals/VOCs, 90% of Mercury (6.5pH), 97% of Chlorine, 98% of Lead, 99.99% of Cysts, 99% of Turbidity, 99% of Asbestos, and Particulates 0.5-1.0 micron. It does not remove flouride. GE recommends that you replace the filter every 6 months OR after 600 Gallons of water have been filtered OR if your system monitor lights indicate replacement is required OR if you notice a decrease in the flow of water or objectionable tastes in the water.

Gary Hoyt August 1, 2008 Have used this filter for a five gallon bottled water bottle for 4-5 yrs. I am on a well and donot have my water tested on a regular basis. I use a $15.00 water tester that shows the filtered water slightly better than the tap water.
There is a red slime that comes from the primary filter of the "FXSVC" filter that remained in the canister, the "FXSLC" dubbed as the best fliter from GE had the same but only when it was new.
When I change filters, I cut the primary apart with a hack saw and discovered there was a red paper wrap. That is probably where the red slime looking stuff came from. Food for thought: is there a reason GE uses the red paper in the filters, other than for filtration?
At any rate, I continue to use the filtration unit and feel better about my drinking water because of it.
When it comes time to replace your filters you can buy them for about 1/2 of what Home Depot charges, on line. Last I used was Filters Fast, they seem to be a good company to order from.
Well worth it February 25, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I installed this filter several years ago and it has been fantastic. The water where we live is very hard and doesn't taste good. This system has solved the problem.

The water tastes ok. It takes longer to fill a glass than the kitchen faucet so I cheat sometimes. Makes very good tasting tea and coffee. Why, I wonder, do they tell you to let it run 10 seconds before drinking it?
So much better for the environment then buying water August 6, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We installed this filter five years ago and have enjoyed the convenience greatly. We use two sets of filters a year and this set of three is a huge savings over store bought prices.
