Versatile and powerful flashlight October 16, 2008
You can never have enough flashlights. In line with that idea, Stanley offers a 3-in1 version of the electric torch. This powerful flashlight can be used as one strong light, or it can be easily separated into 3 separate smaller lights and just as easily combined again on the handy tripod.
Did I not mention the tripod earlier? How remiss of me... Yes, this is one of those ultra cool tripod flashlights that resemble something out of a Star Trek episode. I can easily envision Captain Kirk assigning an ensign to place these things around a perimeter for some kind of research mission.
But I digress... LOL
The tripod looks cool, but the real beauty of the concept is in its utter usefulness. Set the flashlight up on the tripod and point the bendable lights in the direction you need them rather than have someone else hold the flashlight for you. Is your power out? Set the tripod up and turn the flashlight on to light the room easily.
Or, for some zany fun, bend each of the three flashlight heads out, fold the tripod stands in, then twirl the flashlight like a disco light spotlighting a friend! OK, yes, we did this at my office when the flashlight arrivd. I know, that's probably not how Stanley intended for it to be used, but it did give us a few minutes of silly fun!
I hope you notice the part above where I mentioned the bendable flashlight heads. These are probably my favorite part, even as much as I like the tripod. The adjustable heads let you angle the beam exactly where you need it, even in awkward places like inside a computer case, car engine, etc.
Each of the three lights that are part of this flashlight require 2 AA batteries. So far, I've seen a lot of use out of regular alkaline batteries, and am well pleased with how long they last.
I highly recommend the Stanley 3-in-1 Tripod LED Flashlight #95-155.

This flashlight reminds me of a Transformer toy in some ways; it's reasonably high-tech and folds/unfolds into a variety of shapes. It's actually three flashlights in one, with a built-in tripod. When all of the lights are in the tripod, any one power switch controls all three. But each section can be removed and used individually with its own power switch, too.
Like all LED lights, this model has a bluish-white lite that isn't as bright overall as traditional flashlights. But it's bright enough, and LED battery life is far superior to traditional units.
I like the fact that the three "segments" can be aimed individually, and the tripod makes it a good work light.
Great Flexible Flashlight! September 18, 2008
When I ordered this flashlight, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I had been looking at tripod flashlights, but I didn't know which one was the best for the money. Now that I have used this 3 & 1 Stanley Tripod Flashlight, I don't think I could ever live without it! My first was for use in my garage. I had a garage door chain which was off the track. I set up the tipod and used the rotating head to shine the light on the exact spot I was working on. I honestly don't think I could have finished the job in the shaded darkness of a closed garage (even with the ceiling light on) without this Stanley. I recommend this for all women who will attempt to do many home repairs by themselves. I can see where I will be using this flashlight quite often because of it's maneuverability and flexibility!

What it is: In a nutshell, this is three LED flashlights that can work either individually or in concert. As individual flashlights, there's not much to say: They are reasonably bright, though I own better ones in similar sized packages. They use 2 AA batteries each. These are not heavy duty flashlights made for the elements and dropping, but for light duty work, they're fine.
Their use individually is not the lure here, however. What sets this package apart is that all three flashlights can be snapped together. When they are, one switch will operate any flashlight. In addition, small feet can be pulled from the flashlight bodies to form a small fripod, which allows the flashlights to sit on a table/floor/whatever. The heads of each of the three flashlights can be adjusted via a swivel connection, so the light from the three flashlights, in triop mode, can be similarly adjusted.
In the three flashlight mode, this unit gave off a decent amount of relatively bright white light. Essentially, this is a makeshift area light. However, because these are flashlight heads, there are only two ways to reasonably use this area light: Either with the heads aimed upward (so you get reflected light) or to the sides (where you'll find yourself periodically blinded by the direct beam). In this respect, the area light mode is inferior to, e.g. a latern style LED appliance, which is made specifically for area lighting and includes frosted or baffled glass so that more direct light can be used with worrying about getting blinded.
The question thus becomes: Is this a reasonable compromise: An inferior area light when connected and three independent flashlights when needed? The answer will mostly depend on how cheaply you can score one of these.
Personally, I already have good quality latern lamps (LED) and also good quality flashlights, so for me this product turns out to be neither fish nor fowl.
