Amazon.com This straight finishing nailer is one of seven new heavy-duty air-powered nailers from the venerable Milwaukee, and the whole series is another testament to the red label's unflagging quality. At the top of our list is how incredibly light Milwaukee's nailers are, even fully loaded, and their compact size makes them a cinch to tote and use, especially in awkward positions and at the tail end of a long day on the job. But it's crowded at the top of the list: Despite their light weight, these nailers are heavyweights in the power department. The 7145-21 effortlessly drives 3/4" to 2-1/2" finishing nails and, best of all, its reload indicator even alerts you when your magazine's nearly empty. Loading more fasteners takes a couple of seconds at most, and that means more money in your pocket. Another big tip of the hat to Milwaukee for incorporating both sequential and bump firing modes, accessible just by turning a knob, so when speed is a need, you're ready to go, but precision is at your fingertips too. We like the quality built into this tool, from the magnesium housing to the easily adjustable air deflector and muffler, as well as the convenient rafter hook for storage. The non-marring nosepiece won't deface your work surface, and there's even a self-cleaning air filter in the tool handle, keeping dust and dirt out of the tool's workings - and that means longer tool life. In hand, this nailer feels great: light, comfortable, agile, and beautifully balanced. Tool-free depth adjustment is on-the-mark reliable, fast and easy. And should the nails jam, clearing is a snap with the tool-free jam release. Bravo, Milwaukee.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste Amazon.com Product Description Milwaukee 16ga. Straight Finish Nailer features an ultra lightweight magnesium housing that helps to minimize fatigue plus, its compact size offers greater maneuverability. The tool-free depth-of-drive adjustment gives you precise depth control and protects against overdriving nails. The tool-free jam release gives you quick access for clearing occasional jams. This unit also features a selectable trigger that allows you to choose sequential or contact actuation by simply turning a knob. An in-handle self-cleaning air filter extends life by preventing dirt and debris from entering the tool. The tool-free adjustable exhaust with muffler directs exhaust away from the work area. This nailer comes with a removable no-mar tip that prevents damage to the workpiece. It also features a reload indicator that alerts the user when nearly out of nails, plus the rear-loading magazine allows quick loading and unloading of fasteners. Also features an internal piston catch, rubber over-molded handle and trigger and an adjustable belt hook that provides convenience for carrying when not in use. doc October 21, 2008 Great price , light weight and easy to use. I read reviews complaining about not counter sinking. I had no problems with the countersinks using 3/4 oak. For the money you can't go wrong.
Good, but countersink may be weak. June 30, 2008 Can't beat the price (my primary reason for purchase) so I'm generally happy with the gun. Not the best countersinking though. When Shooting 1 1/2 nails through 3/4 maple framing into plywood, I found I have to apply firm pressure against the piece when I fire the gun to get it to countersink at all. Still end up going back over with a punch and hammer to get it deep enough for my linking. But I may be overdoing it. Weekend do-it-youselfer not a pro. I personally like the brand and would purchase more.
Straight Finish Nailer - Light weight , heavy hiter 3/4" to 2 1/2" June 9, 2008 The Milwaukee 7145-21 is a Straight Finish Nailer that is light-weight but a heavy hitter as far as performance. Easy to load and adjust for depth. Decent case and safety gogles were included. It did not have the coupler fitting though so I had to go pick one up (so I got three just in case the next tool I buy has it missing too) as I needed to use the nailer upon arrival. Keep in mind that if you need to use this in tight spaces (you will if you do Crown or Base Molding) the angled model would be better suited. Not too heavy, good price and I would indeed replace it if it were stolen. I hope that it is as reliable as I expect it will be.
a great Milwaukee nailer February 13, 2008 found no flaws with this fine tool
did find some suberb positives ---- quiet, powerful, lightweight, and easy to use
one of the best nailers I have used AND, due to the wide array of usable lengths of 16ga finish nails it has allowed me to replace two guns with this single one
Good value January 28, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I paid under $80 for this finish nailer and got a great addition to my box of tools. As a small person, I require all my tools to deliver dependable power without overwhelming bulk. This nailer works fine as long as you keep it loaded. While remodeling a vintage home, it tacked interior floor moulding, secured fascia, and was a real treat to use while installing trim between the siding and eves. The non-mar tip allowed careful placement of the nails without the hassle of hand nailing (over hedges while balancing on a ladder). Even when attached to a 50' air hose, it wasn't too awkward or heavy and hooked easily onto my toolbelt. Wish I'd bought one sooner! Every time another 10'section of 1/4 round went up, my arms and hands were ever so thankful.
