Ideal for Big Home August 31, 2008 We could not hear our doorbell when we are upstairs particularly in the back of the house. This doorbell extender does exactly as advertised. We were able to extend our doorbell from the downstairs hallway to the upstairs bedroom approx 50 feet. The kids really like to alternate tones. Very easy to install - connect 2 wires. Works great.
great, simple item August 14, 2008 This thing is great. We could never hear our doorbell when we were in the basement watching TV, and really didn't want to replace the old one. It only took a few minutes to screw this into the existing doorbell and plug in the chime downstairs, and the problem was solved. I purchased a second chime to go upstairs.
I was able to tape the small unit to the outside of the old chime in a way that is not too obtrusive, and makes it possible to change the chime without removing anything. It is annoying that they used a jumper to set the chime -- you will need to use tweezers to change it -- and the default chime is a bit annoying, but that is only a minor complaint.
Cheap, quick, reliable solution. July 3, 2008 We just moved, and our new home is an older house that's built pretty solid. The doorbell is on the main floor, and if we were in the basement or upstairs, we couldn't hear the doorbell unless the house was completely silent.
So I bought one of the doorbell extenders, with one receiver upstairs in my office, and a second receiver (purchased separately) in the basement by the TV. It works great. It took two minutes to install, and the receivers respond immediately upon doorbell press.
The first receiver is about 20ft away, through a floor and a wall. The second receiver is about 35ft away, through a floor and two walls. I haven't had any interference problems with other wireless devices in the house.
Easy to install, works great June 21, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this wireless doorbell extender because we sometimes couldn't hear the doorbell (upstairs) when we were in our family room (downstairs). Installation takes about 5 mintues: Connect the three wires on the transmitter to the three screw posts on the doorbell (it connects to the box inside the house where the doorbell sound comes from, not to the doorbell button outside), and mount the transmitter to the doorbell cover using the double-stick tape provided. The receiver then plugs into any AC wall outlet. The receiver has a volume control, and the different choices for the chime (Ding-Dong, Westminster, etc.) are set by changing jumpers on the transmitter. It works very reliably, always sounding whenever the doorbell is pressed.
Lamson RC3 Extend A bell June 7, 2008 when I received this plug In extend A bell item, I was kind of expecting a system that required no wiring at all, something similiar to what I had about five years ago that performed well but wore out. I returned this item to the seller unopened, so I can't rate it fairly, but I had to for this review, it just wasn't what I was looking for.
The seller CrazyDavesToolShed very promptly refunded my money. In the meantime, I will continue to search for an extend A bell, that you just plug in only that has no additional attachments.
