Nice decoration - but beware these are not lights July 8, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
These are beautiful lawn decorations. During the day pretty globes, at night a beautiful color show. I bought them to mark the edge of the lawn so I don't drive over it, and they do this job remarkbly well. Better than expected. But don't expect them to light anything, as described on the box - these are lawn decorations, not lights.
Pretty after dark! June 3, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
We bought this 3 globe solar art glass set and placed them in a sunny planter in front of our house. During the day, the globes are very pretty and catch the sunlight (my SIL remarked how well they looked the first time she drove up and saw them). We kept them shut off for the first 3-4 nights trying to charge them well so they would retain a charge (like any other rechargeable battery type) and that seems to have worked well. They are quite spectacular after dark especially as each globes cycles through a spectrum of beautiful colors with the changing LED inside. We (well "I") have even contemplated stocking up on another box or two of these as they are glass and things happen...must keep my prettiessss!! The kids stick their heads out the door at night just to watch them (which does wonders for the interior bug population - eesh!). Great. Love 'em. Want more. Note: I'm editing this review due to the negative reviews I've seen on this item. The only reason I gave the Art Globes 4 stars rather than 5 was because it's too soon to gauge longevity/battery life, etc. If I had to rate it on coolness/prettiness alone I'd rate it a 5. Also, I'm not exactly sure what the negative reviewers were expecting product-wise? Box says "Solar Art Glass" - not "lights." We never thought they would light a walkway or area - we expected them to provide a fun lightshow after dark and they definitely do that. The directions also say to ensure that they charge well before turning on the globes for 1st use. Maybe the other folks didn't charge them for a couple of days first? We love them and will probably get more.
Changing color LED is a stupid idea... June 3, 2008 0 out of 3 found this review helpful
The fact that the LED changes color is annoying. The description in the box hardly indicates that this will happen. It is called "spectrum changing LED" on the box. That means it cycles slowly thru 3 or 4 colors. It would be much nicer if it was a constant low white light that showed off the colors of the nice glass covers.
There should be a way to pick constant steady white light or cycle color light for the people that prefer that. Also fix the packaging to indicate it does this. Luckily Costco takes back anything for any reason so these will be going back.
I will check to see if its possible to change the LED, but it didn't seem like it from my quick examination...lame...
hardly any light and colors are annoying May 28, 2008 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
I got these at Costco for $[...]. At that price these are still highly disappointing because they shed so little light that you can not even see the globes after dark and the color effect is useless, dopey and annoying.
OTOH, IF they had been clear or white globes with white lights I think I would have been happy with them even at Amazon's price. I am inclined to believe that because, in the yellow globe, the small LED light is at least able to illuminate the globe.
