Amazon.com Product Review These scissors offer way more cutting power than just about anyone can muster with muscle alone, and best of all, it's effortless. You can't help but love a product that makes life so much easier, especially for folks who suffer from arthritis. You can cut nearly anything with these, from delicate pattern paper to sheet vinyl flooring and window screening, with just the press of a button. Our favorite job for these, though, is to easily slice into that impossible-to-open, hard plastic packaging that seems to be on most everything these days. It's no match for these scissors. When power scissors first came out, there wasn't too much concern about ergonomics, but we know so much more these days about how important that is. Black & Decker's made this power tool a treat for the body to use, with a nice cushy grip, super light weight and no force needed. One charge will keep you cutting for 70 minutes, and then you just plug it in and charge it again. There's no end to what you can use these power scissors for - gift wrapping, sewing, scrapbooking, decorating, jobs around the house, crafts, clipping coupons. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Buyer Beware October 15, 2008 The positive reviews were so glowing that I gave it a try. I couldn't cut cotton, much less tile or whatever some of the materials are that were mentioned. I kept it only because it was too much trouble to return it. Maybe one day I'll need a fancy pair of useless scissors to cut some paper. Maybe it will do that.
wimpy cutters October 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought these on Aug. 12, 2008, and I've been extremely disappointed with them. They don't work well at all on the plastic clamshells - the blades are a bit too short so it takes a lot of working from different angles before finding one that lets them grab an edge, and then they just don't have the power to cut through the thicker areas. To add insult to injury, they don't hold a charge for very long and they can't be used at all while charging, so half the time I have to put the item aside and wait for these scissors to charge - or just give up and go get the box cutter.
Great product September 13, 2008 I picked up two of these at a Big Lots in Birmingham, Alabama, for 12 bucks each. They were the models that came with the table mounts. I got them with the table mounts since my mom has limited use of one hand, so I figured that the table mounts would help her. I have since found the model that doesn't come with the table mount at Big Lots for a mere 8 dollars each.
Regardless of the model, these things work GREAT. They are primarily used for cutting open those stupid plastic clamshell stuff comes in, but they also come in handy for opening/cutting a variety of other things. Sometimes you may need to cut a starting hole with a knife, but big deal, once that is done these scissors will easily cut through plastic, cardboard, and other reasonably lightweight products.
For anyone who gives these scissors one or two stars they (1) had higher expectations for them than reality can provide or (2) simply got a defective products in which case they should return it and get another BEFORE rating it.
Do I recommend these? Yes, but shop around for a better price.
Black & Decker Cordless Power Scissors August 29, 2008 Recommend-sew for a living making custom childrens clothing. When I cut out a pattern, I like to cut out 4 at a time, these make my job much easier. They cut well on curves and angles. I would purchase again when the time arises.

The main purpose for these scissors was to open plastic packaging and they are not strong enough to do the job. Even fully charged, they just stall out when you start to make the first cut.
