Product Description The Yogitoes Skidless towels in the Deity Altruism collection are an excellent way to improve the world while practicing your yoga. These super-absorbent towels provide a hygienic layer between your body and your mat, and they feature small, silicone nubs to prevent sliding. Each towel is a different color and represents a different part of yoga. A portion of the purchase price of each Altruism towel benefits a worthy charity.
Amazon.com Product Description This Yogitoes Skidless premium yoga towel is the only towel created specifically to prevent slipping while practicing yoga. The towel works intuitively: simply place the side with the silicone eco nubs face down on the yoga mat or low-pile carpet. Once you distribute your weight in a yoga posture, the eco nubs start gripping the mat, thus keeping your hands or feet from slipping in mid-stretch. The towel's 80 percent polyester and 20 percent nylon material, meanwhile, is super absorbent, thus putting a hygienic layer between you and your exercise equipment. The towel, which is machine-washable and dryer-safe (it's designed to dry fast), measures 24 by 68 inches. About Yogitoes Yogitoes is an innovative company that designs yoga and fitness products for the modern yogi and gym enthusiast.Orange represents another shade of green to the company by practicing consciousness and altruism in their daily thoughts, actions, and company decisions. 2 stars because... August 19, 2008 Why do you exercise? I do bikram yoga to become healthier. However, I am so concerned about getting skin cancer from this towel-dye because almost half naked while exercising yoga. In spite of instruction indicated that wash twice before using, after almost more than 20 times of washing...stell bleeding.(I own copper and teal towel.) This is unbelievable!!!!!!
Who want to buy, knowing this fact????
Therefore, 2 stars because of this bleeding problem!!
If you agree to this as well but want to pruchase it, I recommend you get a white towel. Other than this rpoblem, it is an excellent towel, especially for bikram yoga.
An overpriced shmata. August 18, 2008 Having slip-slided through vinyasa and ashtanga classes for nearly 10 years, this product looked like the answer to my prayers. Until I tried it. And experienced it flip up and kink with every jump back. If you must try this, spray it down with water before you begin to practice, so you get more traction. Or fold it up at the front of your mat and pull it out when you're sweating up a storm. It will not "stick" unless it's damp. I repeat, it must be damp! Never use fabric softener with it, it will render it useless. Downy completely obliterates the traction. Expect the stitching to unravel when you wash it...even if you wash it on cold in the gentle cycle. Another piece of advice, get the white...unless you have time to wash it separately in cold every time you use it (which is inconvenient if you practice more than once a week, which you probably do if you're considering this). The color runs and fades and, over time, you'll find you have to wash it in hot to really sanitize it. In which case, the dot on the front will crack and peel. I've given up the yogitoes and replaced it with a good, old fashioned towel. I also sometimes use the hand-towel sized yogitoes...that one is pretty good. Overall, just bring a towel that hasn't been washed in fabric softener and skip this thing. Particularly if you do vinyasa or ashtanga. Yogitoes is good in theory, but not practice.
Works well for me at yoga class August 17, 2008 I go to yoga classes often and I hate carrying my mat around, b/c it is awkward to carry. However, the towel can just be folded up and thrown in my bag. It makes it so easy.
Great for carrying around August 11, 2008 Doing yoga for 4 years. I purchased this for yoga lessons at the gym in the office. There are yoga mats being rented out, but they are getting worn out and I started having sanitation concerns. Since I take my laptop, gym clothes, lunch etc to the office already, I wasn't up for adding a full length mat to my luggage, and chose to get the skidless instead.
It's overall a great product; compact, lightweight, easy to clean, completely covers the mat and sticks to it well. I got mine for sale for $40, and I feel it is well worth the investment.
Giving 4 stars only because it is a bit slippery compared to doing yoga directly on a mat for me, and I'm still a bit uncomfortable on some poses after using it for a month and washing it twice. I almost wish that the silicon "bumps" are on both sides and not just one, so that the towel is skidless not only toward the map but also to my hands and feet (or have some texture... you got the point). The traction is improving over time, so hopefully it'll be no issue as I use it more.
Great mat for travel July 29, 2008 The towel is thin, and skidless if you put it on a floor. Slightly skiddy when you put it atop another mat. Great for travel, folds up quite thin and washes nicely. Gorgeous, cheery color.
