Didn't work August 31, 2009 charles murphy (Athens, GA USA) We bought this heron to protect the fish in our ponds. Three different herons have come by in the last couple of months. One of them seemed bothered and left after just one visit, but the other two weren't fazed in the least. They'd just walk right by it on their way to a good fishing spot. See my photo under "customer images" above.
great July 4, 2009 I bought this to keep other (real) blue herons away from my fish pond and it looks so real that the first day I put it by my pond my neighbor came running over to scare it away because she thought it was real. I love it!
Looks good, doesn't work May 20, 2009 Kevin M. Marker (Kent, WA) I change the location of my "Heron" everyday and still I find a real heron in my pond almost every morning. I guess it was worth a try, its back to netting the pond at night for me.
He works, but... May 12, 2009 Heather Mcclaren (Charlottesville, VA) Delivery from seller was just fine. UPS didn't do a good job in their shipping. The box had taken a real beating. Product was not damaged, but UPS tried, I'll give them that.
This Heron is made of 100% plastic, which is good for the outdoor weather, but the paint was chipping off every time I touched it. Looks like acrylic paint over plastic. Doesn't stick well. The legs of the plastic Heron are suppose to go into two holes in the belly. The legs do not fit snugly into the body portion and keep falling out, no matter how hard I tried.
The decoy is very lightweight and really looks like the real thing. I suggest that you move the Heron around your pond every so often, so any frequent fly-over Herons, don't get the idea that the decoy isn't a real bird.
With shipping, my order cost a little over $38.00, shipped from California. Considering that the parts do not fit well or very loosely in the body holes and the fact that the paint is very delicate, this bird is probably over-priced. If he does the trick to protect my prized Koi's though, then this decoy is priceless.
Heron Decoy December 6, 2008 B. Cook (Wellington, FL) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this blue heron decoy for my koi pond in South Florida. So far, no fish loss. The decoy was just like it was described on Amazon so I'm happy with it.
