Product Description
Crown Molding Cutting Jig - CROWN MOLDING CUTTING JIG. Produces perfect fitting miters every time. Crown stop quickly adjusts to lock molding. Fits all 10" & larger miter saws

Amazon.com Review
There's no denying that nearly everyone loves crown molding, but cutting the molding is no picnic—even for some pros. That's because crown molding gets installed at an angle against the wall and ceiling, and precise cuts are required to obtain tight-fitting corner joints. Complicating the situation is the fact that crown molding is expensive; it only takes two or three miscuts to blow your budget. But don't despair you can end the trepidation and frustration with the Bench Dog 10-010 Crown-Cut Jig. This surprisingly simple device provides a quick, foolproof way to cut crown molding, even for novice do-it-yourselfers.

Crown-Cut is designed to work with any 10-inch or larger power miter saw, and it'll accommodate crown moldings up to 6 inches wide. The jig is made of Baltic birch plywood and it plastic stops and steel tabs that adjust to match the molding's height and distance it projects from the wall.

To use the jig, simply set it onto the saw table and adjust it to match the molding size. Then place the molding into the jig and it'll automatically be held at the proper wall angle. Set the saw blade to 45 degrees, and make the cut. This method is much easier than holding the molding flat on the table and setting the saw for a compound angle cut, which requires figuring out both bevel and miter angles. -- Joseph Truini

3 out of 5 stars does not make you a king of crown molding, but it helps   July 12, 2008
Crown molding is confusing, this set up helped though my angles still didn't meet up...but I was so close. I'll blame it on the miter saw.

3 out of 5 stars Wow! Is this thing expensive!!   May 1, 2008

Boy, is this thing expensive! A friend gave me his after he completed his remodeling project and I find that it is a nice jig. It makes cutting crown molding easier. I can image that it would really help a novice.

The real advantage to this jig is the ability to re-set it for different molding. But if you are just cutting just one or two different sizes of molding, I suggest that you make a box out of some scrap plywood. It shouldn't take much more than 10-15 minutes if you have a table saw. You'll save $40 and can then take your significant other out for dinner.

As another reviewer suggested, attach this jig to the saw so it doesn't move. I used heavy duty double-stick tape with great results.

3 out of 5 stars Good but not great!   April 27, 2008

It's one of a few of the good DIY'ers remedies to cutting crown moulding. I only wish that it would be able to hold the moulding tighter once it is in the device. Perhaps if the bench Dog's 10-010's "fence risers" and "crown stop" had some softer rubber attached to them or were made of softer rubber in general it would hold the moulding much better in place than what it does.

Excellent tool. Helps you ascend the learning curve very rapidly. If you are hanging crown yourself, this is a must buy. Costs 10 bucks more than the Rockler version but I think this is a better tool.

5 out of 5 stars Cutting Crown Molding   May 12, 2007

First and foremost, I do not work for this co. I am usually skeptical about reviews.

I've done a lot of Home Improvement projects. I will tell you that cutting crown molding is a pain in the brain. If you want a quality look this helps to situate the molding in the proper position. You won't have to use those ugly corner pieces that are like $5-10 a piece and look cheesey.

After wasting about $100 in molding I researched and found this...It works. FYI-By the way when cutting molding, I would highly reccomend that when placing try to place on the wall as one piece.
