| Customer Reviews: This is terrible sound/video - Junk! October 31, 2009 Ruth M. Gardner (Phoenix, AZ) I bought this camera - it works - but the sound is muffled
Even worse it records the sound of the clock ticking. You can not understand any audio recorded with this item. It is 100% useless to build any kind of legal case. The spy key chain has better audio/video but with that item it does not turn on easily. DO not buy this item. I recommend you invest in a real spy camera with button/screw mounts like the fbi uses. good luck!
Best Video/Image Capturing Watch Currently September 24, 2009 David R. Freeman 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
When looking for an unorthodox combination like a wrist watch and a camcorder you aren't going to find many options. Most of these "gadgets" are more curiosity than practicality. Most of these "spy watches" are made in China, much like all the cellular, mp3 watches and many other electronics. As the concept is great the implications are somewhat lacking, although the recent models have made some improvement.
Lets start off with the bad. This watch's major #1 flaw is the camera angle. Ideally, the camera should be positioned so that a level capture could be taken while the wrist is in a normal position(arm to the side, relaxed horizontally, ect). However, in order to get a properly leveled capture you have to tilt your arm 45 degrees toward your chest. Basically it looks like you have your arm over your chest for the pledge of aligance. You can get by with unnoticed capture if you smoke with your left hand but other than that it does not look natural. Another flaw is the light sensor, in which the adjuster has a hair trigger that shows in your videos continuously switching between lighting. Also, the craftsmanship is a little shotty (I know it's made in China), in my case I saw a couple of smears inside the face where some dirty fingers gone where it shouldn't. The lens inside also became affected by this to a small degree, the right edge of the videos come out hazy. The manuals are strait-to-the-fact and are translated well compared to other China imports you might come across. The software included were terrible. The only files that worked was the manual in pdf and the "movie viewer" which was nothing more than the VLM video viewer you can download for the past few years. Everything else was corrupted. Finally, no 120V AC adapter. You will have to settle for USB.
.....Now for the good. Dispite its many flaws, this camcorder watch has an above average resolution for both videos and imaging as well as the best FPS overall. When lighting conditions were right both the still and videos were clear and vibrant. Surprising too was the mic strength, I had to turn the volume down on my PC it recorded so loud. To top everything off you have a 8GB flash drive on your wrist, making file sharing more convenient and less likely to forget something important.
Then the ugly...... This watch is not a monster like the current MP4 watches out on the market, but it is still quite large. I'm a big guy so the watch does not look inconspicuously big, but for the average man it would look a bit out of place. If there wasn't so many tell-tale signs of sloppy assymbly it would of looked like an attractive watch, but the smears inside ruin what beauty it might have had.
In closing if you want to take professional, high quality pictures and video look elsewhere(like sony cybershot). For "spying" I'd recommend looking for one that has a properly fitted lens for less inconspicuous surveillance. If you are looking for a cheap watch with the convenience of a camcorder/camera/flash drive than this is about as good as it gets for the moment, just learn to angle the camera right.
Great covert camera September 7, 2009 Jay (New York State, USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The video quality is great. The battery and storage are sufficient enough that I've recorded long videos (45+ minutes) with no problems. The watch itself looked a bit thick to me at first, but I wear it everyday and no one has found it to look out-of-the-ordinary, even when my friends inspected my new watch closely.
The only thing I don't like about it is that it can be difficult to point the camera correctly. The camera is embedded at a weird angle. All of my recordings come out crooked, and unless I aim the camera more downward than seems natural, the top of the subject won't be in frame. But I spent some time doing "target practice" and now I've gotten the hang of it.
I definitely recommend this product.
Great DVR Watch June 17, 2009 D. Adams (Cincinnati, Ohio USA) 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
This is a great DVR-watch & storage device that is very simple to use. The quality of the case and band are evident. I won't worry about bumping or dropping this one given the heavy steel case. The LED light makes it simple to know when the unit comes on (green light flashes 3 times) and off (red light flashes 3 times). Other than that, there are no visible signs it is recording, which is what you want in a covert device. This LED light seems only visible to the wearer. The watch looks great to me with dressy clothes as well. I plugged the watch into my Windows Vista computer and in a few seconds, the drive folder (with recorded videos) were viewable in Microsoft Media Player. My only complaint was the size of the instructions, which I could only see with a pair of reading glasses (guess I'm getting too old). Overall, this watch is exciting given the quality of the color video, the amount of storage, its durability and the ease of use. By holding my arm in the normal position at my side, the camera is positioned to record in the proper horizontal/vertical position. I was also pleased with the prompt shipping from Action Packaged. Thanks.
