This ring remover works well and is easy to use; however, the tubing at the fitting must first be cut close to the barb in order to allow the ring remover access to the ring. This means that you cannot simply cut off the ring, remove the brass fitting, install a new ring, reinsert the fitting, and re-crimp. Because the rounded jaw side supports the brass fitting from the inside, while the cutting jaw goes through the ring, it is always necessary to cut the tubing in order to remove the ring. This can often mean cutting off two rings because the tubing length becomes too short after cutting off the end with the bad crimp. I've found it easiest to cut through one side of the ring, rotate 180 degrees, and then apply pressure on the other side of the ring to spread the cut side open for easier removal. I also try not to cut the tubing flush with the end of the brass barb because then you have little to nothing to grip with pliers when you try to pull the small piece of wasted tubing off of the fitting. In the majority of cases, I still find myself removing the remnant of tubing carefully with a razor blade (being careful not to scratch the brass barb or cut myself) in order to get the tubing off.
